I know that this has been discussed here before, but it has been a while. I have a real nice Maytag E2LPS wringer with the air-driven foot pedal that controls the wringer. I have replaced the foot pedal but it continues to be problematic leaking air from somewhere. Someone posted about the right size bolt to screw into the post on the wringer, to override the foot pedal. There is nothing worse than having the wringer stop in the middle of a load because that pedal is acting up. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi (it's Fred, right?) ... I think it's called either a 1/2" or a 3/8" hex head bolt. It's a longer bolt; about 3/4" long. You can get it at your local hardware.

Look underneath the machine where the foot pedal is connected to the wringer post. You can unscrew the white plastic housing completely from the post. Take the foot pedal with you to the hardwware store so you get the right diameter bolt.

When screwing the bolt back into the machine, screw it in far enough so it trips the "clutch". The only way to tell if you've done that is to plug the machine in and try to operate the wringer. Screw it in a little further if it doesn't work. Eventually it will trip the clutch and your rollers will work without the foot pedal!

I've made both of my "S" machines that way. It is so much easier, except when you're wringing larger items. I liked the foot pedal for the control.

Good luck ... be careful underneath the machine when it's running. That belt looks dangerous!! :-) I just plug and unplug it; I never put my hands down there when it's running.

Geoff

I'll try it and let you know. Greg Nunn is coming in for a visit with the crazy vacuum folks at my house in a couple of weeks and I wanted to take advantage of his presence to get some work done on some of my other machines.

Thanks to Geoffdelp and Kenny for the pointers. I got the Maytag Automatic adjustable foot and screwed it into the clutch assembly - worked the first time. Here are the pictures.

Congrats, Fred!! It looks like you got it running just fine.

What a great looking machine! That tub looks brand new. Was airwaycharlie having a good time wringing?

I saw that A806 too ... oh boy, what a nice machine, huh?
