I have a friend that had the classic 3000 ws in a new house they built what a machine. Washed just beautifully. I liked these better than the KA because thay didnt have that stupid stand still water heating. 140 in the main wash that simple!

It just always seemed to me that KitchenAid was premium and prestige no matter what model you had......the MercedesBenz of dishwashers......

ISE dishwashers were basically the same machine inside, but a so-called generic version of the original, almost a lesser version, a sister in disguise....

thanks for the pics Pete

peteski50's profile picture
I had also heard somewhere the IN-SINK-ERATOR put out dishwashers made by whirlpool, but I don't ever recall seeing them! Does anyone have these types of brochures?

Wow, thanks for those scans!

I think the subject machines are KDS-23 derivatives.  Mine looks the same, but is based on the KDS-22, and doesn't have the "Quiet System Plus" feature.  I switched the buttons around, as I didn't like having one oddball grey key mixed into the bank of blue ones.  I doubt many users relied on color coding to help in selecting desired options and it could be argued that "Rinse/Hold" is an option rather than a wash cycle.

I'm very happy with the way my ISE performs.  There is no contest between it and the comparatively inept Thermador THD 3600 it bumped out of the kitchen.

Ralph - that is one nice DW. I think they should have moved the rinse&hold button over to the left with the other wash cycles.

Great Scans!

Thanks for the scans!

I never understood why Kitchenaid did not have a version for ISE with a Sanitation Cycle.

I remember looking at the ISE versions back when.  The prices were not that far off from the

Kitchenaid versions.  This is why I never understood them not having the Sanitation Cycle.

The scans of the Whirlpool ISE are very cool.  I don't remember this version.

Brent ISE not having Sanitize cycle/rinse

I think it was purely marketing.  I think that was the one of two differentiation features that KA kept for itself.  The TOL ISE machines werer basically a high-end Imperial with adjustable top rack and the rapid advance timer and that's it.

More great scans! From 1992 the ISE was also a Whirlpool made product, fulfilling the contractual obligations Hobart had made with ISE.

I agree that the Rinse/Hold button should have been grouped with the other wash options.  Particularly when you consider that they gave it a gray key like the wash cycles got.  So my logic is, if you grouped the R/H cycle in with the options, then those keys should all be the same color.  Plus, wouldn't you think that the "wash" cycles would be the blue colored ones anyway?

Besides not having a sanitize cycle, the agreement allowing for an ISE badge on a KA machine also required that the ISE machines didn't resemble a KA.  ISE spent $250K to come up with a different latching mechanism from the classic KA style that flipped up to open and down to latch.

I've never had any reason to use a sanitize cycle on any dishwasher I've ever owned, so it's not something I miss or felt was necessary.  That doesn't mean though, that if a nice series 22 Superba Monterey came along, I wouldn't grab it.  I really like the black console look of the ISE and Monterey machines.

I love I.S.E.(Dishwashers) I have never used a I.S.E. or K.A. with what looks to be a Power-Clean pump.I have Never seen a I.S.E. dishwasher where I live,That I.S.E. with Stainless steel looks great,I have a feeling I will be removing my New G.E. Monogram that won't clean.I can't stand these 5 G.P.M. pumps in these new D.W..I also have to scrape my dishes now which I NEVER did with my old Kitchenaid I would throw bread, pancakes everything in that machine. I was wondering about that I.S.E. Classic disposer I collect them but have never seen one those or a brosure.I don't like I.S.E. Disposer's the Evolution Excel is pretty good but my Old Wasteking SS 8000 blows it away and it's older than me..
