That was a GE set in "Weird Science." Can't really tell what Ellen Burstyn's machines in "The Exorcist" were...possibly Norge or Blackstone. |

In the old bw series "Father Knows Best" there is an episode where they buy a new washing machine (1951? Westinghouse Laundromat) and their youngest daughter keeps putting differnt things into it at the same time she is dressed up like a Martian. She winds up piutting her sister's dress inside along with some foreign items that are not supposed to be in a washer and just about ruins it.There are many great shots of the machine in this episode and everytime I have seen it,it took my breath away.

In the movie RADIO FLYER there is a Maytag washer paired with a Kenmore dryer. Wasn't there a scene in MASK showing a mid 60's Kenmore washer? |

It was on the service pourch off the kitchen. I remember seeing it in one episode where Dennis and Margueret pretend they are married and somehow end up filling Mrs. Mitchell's kitchen with suds. Here is a little known fact both the Mitchell's and the Stone's live in Hilldale. I know that because I remember an episode of The Donna Reed Show when Donna was painting her living room and who shows up and gets in her way?....you guessed it none other than Dennis Mitchell. There used to be an insiped show about a little boy and his pet bear called "Gentle Ben". The little boys mom had a Maytag '06 I think but no dryer as they lived in the everglades. Dennis Weaver played the daddy ; ) I remember thinking that she needed a dryer. |

If anyone can find a pic (or provide a link) of the Steven' remodeled kitchen, I'd love to see it. IIRC the Steven's had an indoor gas grill with a Stainless Steel cover o the right of the Flair. For the life of me I have seen them in two different (real) homes and ccna't recall who made them. Anyone have a clue? |

In the (I think 1968) movie "Yours, Mine, and Ours" Lucille Ball and Henry Fonda have a number of New Generation maytag washers in their basement. Their combined movie family could have easily been in one of the Maytag ads of that era. Lucy starts a load going while talking to her eldest stepson, complete with the trademark CLANG of the Maytag's lid hitting the timer knob. How they managed to feed all those kids AND buy all those washers (and I think they had two ranges in the kitchen, as well) on a military salary I'll never know. Maybe Lucy and Henry had good life insurance policies on their first spouses. T. |

In the recent movie 'Cheaper By The Dozen' you get to see quite a bit of their laundry room, first of all when the parents are trying to talk without the kids listening the father turns on the washer and ryer to drown out their talking, the washer and dryer are a green set but i am clueless as to the brand, i was watching it with my 4 year old cousin and could hardly stop and rewind. You also get to see an industrial washer and dryer in the coaches office at the school. Also you get to see their dishwasher which is an electronic panel, once again i am unsure of the brand.

There was a movie I saw,1930's and it may have been the Dead End Kids, it was a talkie thats for sure. One of the kids was a trouble maker and had switched the reel mower blades for the agitator in the family wringer. After the wife complained of ripped sheets the dad took the ,misbehaven kid plopped him in the washer and sat on the lid while it was running to teach him a lesson. All you could hear was the kid screaming to get out. 3rd Rock From the Sun's Whirlpool is a late 60's multipushbutton machine. I just spent the week roaring with laughter at the first season, it just got released. Man is that a funny show, even better the second time around I'd say! |

I'm fairly certian that the Brady's first oven was a Thermador, and they had a Thermador cooktop. Thermador made that cooktop until quite recently. In later seasons, the Brady's got an oven with black glass doors and I'm not sure what it was--I haven't seen an epesode with it in an age. In the Brady Bunch movies, the oven was a GE. T. |

Thermador (and maybe other) wall ovens had outlets on the control panel for a number of years. Presumambly you could set your electric percolator into the adjacent counter (which the Brady's didn't have) and plug it into the timed control panel outlet. Steve, it's funny you mention rotisserie, because I have an episode of The French Chef on DVD in which Julia had a rotisserie in her oven plugged into the control panel outlet--which seems odd because I'm certain that the Thermador oven she had HAD a rotisserie motor in the rear wall, but maybe I'm mistaken. I think what Julia demonstrated was some sort of aftermarket contraption that sat on a pan on a rack, the motor at the front side, but closed inside the oven. It seemed very clunky. If her oven had a rotisserie feature, I'm sure it would have been incorporated into the design. But Julia was very big on demonstrating attainable equipment, so she would have used an in-oven rotis. that anyone could have bought, rather than demonstrate the fancy features of her own oven. My mom's GE wall oven has a rotisserie motor built into the back wall of the oven cavity--you just flip a small cover to the side and the fitting for the rotis. skewer is behind it. When you turn the selector to ROTISSERIE, you can hear that motor grind to life and the broil element is what cycles on and off. We've never used it as the skewer, holders, and stand were gone when the oven came our way. T. |
