Twin Sons of Different Mothers

Sears and Whirlpool wringers share much of the same genetics.  The washer pictured has a three vane agitator same as Kenmore.  The Roto Swirl was in Sears wringers in the early 50's yet Whirlpool held on to the three vane until later in the decade when the Whirlpool TOLs had a Super Surgilator.  I am not sure why but BOL Whirlpools are much more common than the deluxe models.

I have never seen one like this ad from the 50's (1954?), a "Surgomatic"

Using a wringer washer to do the laundry wearing pearls and high heels. But then again I've lead a sheltered life! *LOL*

Robert, thanks so much for the surprising picture

Surprised

Have heard of this full-skirted beauty for many years. In fact, the foreman at the now defunct Dorothy Street Washer warehouse told me he had seen what he thought was a Whirlpool, only once, and that it was "enormous." We all knew there had to be the Whirlpool equivalent of the Kenmore Visimatic out there somewhere.

I hope any member who has knowledge or experience will post it, giving us a nice washer treat for the weekend.

I wonder why they are so rare. Ain't she pretty?

My grandmother had a Whirlpool wringer washer, I have never seen another one. I would love to see a washer like hers again. It had the 3 vane agitator, I was sooo upset when I came home from college and it was gone to the dump..I have been searching for the matching machine ever since..

@Launderess & bajaespuma

You two should have an act on the road, rather entertaining you are, to me :)

I remember my friends mom had one of these, and to me it was massive to say the least and for as much as I enjoyed watching wringer washers this one was some what intimidating. It does look rather XL compared to what I was used to seeing. Thanks for the photo :)

Wasn't there a Whirlpool wringer that had a lint filter on the side?

I remember I saw a picture of it here in the club a loooooong time ago.

That is the wringer with the surilator agitator that I have been searching for! My Grandmother had one like this and it was a neat machine. Oh what I wouldn't give to find one like this in mint condition!

Whirlpool Surgimatic for Sale!

wetguymd,
There is a whirlpool wringer for sale in Rochester, NY CL for $80.
It looks just like the one in the ad posted above with the apron and the push buttons...
If no one wants it, I may consider it. How hard is it to maintain, and find parts for these things?

That Whirlpool Surgomatic on the Rochester CL looks to be an awesome machine.  It will be a great score for somebody.  Good luck, and I hope it goes to a good home!

I sent them an email and asked if they have any money shots and if they have tried it with water to see if there are leaks.

So Firm, So Round, So Fully Packed!

That do be one serious sized washing machine.

Have family in Rochester, NY, but alas no space.

Would be great for doing blankets, quilts and other large bulky items that won't fit in the Miele.

The Magic of Automatic Washer

mickeyd's profile picture

Isn't this place amazing. We talk of it, dream of it, smile, and LO--it appears.

Finally the Whirlpool brother to the Lady K Visimatic we see so often here. Really wondering how those push buttons engage the gear and the pump.

Rochester is the next city down the pike, just over an hour away, but I enjoy a Visimatic, and would love to see another member know

the joys and satisfaction of semi-automatic conventional washing, aka WRINGGGGGGER. This dog can't hunt right now.
