Hi David, This was my first washing machine at 5 year old! 1984 White Westinghouse. I love the lint filter and tub indexing. I have a Frigidaire 1-18 WCI built machine now that has the same system. Enjoy! |

Locks on both spin cycles, but I used a toothbrush to push down the safety switch so I could watch the water spin out and the spray rinse. |

That aws one way to offer temp controlled. Very "Westinghouse" as far as I"m concerned. That feature dates all the way back to the early Laundromat days. A somewhat inexpensive way to offer water temperatures. The logic is also, back then, the heavier soiled loads not only needed longer wwsah times but also hot water washes. Remember the very basic slant-front dryer that was found the other day with the black & white panel? the matching wash most likely had water temp controlled by the timer. Friends in Dallas replaced their sunburst FrogEye 57 Kenmo with a similar olval windowed Laundromat. Hot water was offered up until about the 10 minute mark on the wash cycle and then the temp incoming was selected for warm. All rinses were warm. I know other brands offered a similar feature on their most basic machines, but I always associate this feature with Westinghouse. Come to think of it, the Monkey Norge Tap'n'Touch wash temps were dependant upon what time you selected for wash cycle for all 3--perm press, regular, and delicate cycles.
Oh and suds, a very nice machine, still featured the porcelain coated tub. |
