is johnstone still a decent place to get parts for imperial era machines
-i used to use them back in the '90s for filter flo and other vintage
machines, back then they even had some parts for GM frigidaire, westy, blackstone
and other "weird"brands...

yes

they used to have everything in one catalog, then around 2002 they started
putting the appliance parts in a seperate"appliance"catalog

From what I've heard Johnstone has tightened up on who the sell to. I'm not sure if they look you up and down when you walk in the front door to tell if you're an HVAC contractor, or prove that you've got a legitimate business and have certifications to purchase freon.

Those in the know have shown me some of Johnstone's appliance catalogs from the late 90's. Most of that stuff is long gone by now.

From what I can tell they seem to have gotten away from selling appliance parts, ,the new catalog we got the other day has no appliance parts in it. It has never been my favorite source for anything, the stores are independently owned any may vary but our local store has never been very friendly or helpful. And they send out sale flyers every week or so with no prices on many items, the flyers go right in the paper recycle bin. I can't stand stores that won't put prices on or near items, I will just leave the item there, I refuse to waste my time trying to track down prices.
