A friend of mine is replacing a BOL GE dishwasher that is leaking around the door seals.

What should he get for a replacement machine?

He does not want to spend BIG $$$.

Should he look at Sears, Lowes, Homo Depot?

I will forward him any suggestions.

Thanks and Happy Easter to all!

Home Depot (GSD4400 or GLD4400) $399. Great dishwasher! Quiet, huge capacity up to 15 place settings in one load,NO PRE RINSING,sanitary cycles and energy star compliant.

I recommend a Maytag machine. We have had two and they both worked flawlessly.

If you go to Home Depot, look at their website first. I have noticed that sometimes the in store price can be higher than the online price. The store will honor the online price if you bring it to their attention.

Sears had a Maytag tall tub (WP) with a stainless steel tub on clearance for less than $400.00....a steal! I think they sold them all, because I see a plastic tub model for a lesser price.

I went with the top Best Buy rated dishwasher in Consumer Reports. Got it for $399 plus tax and delivery.

new DW

For a decent DW at a decent price, this would be my pick. Kenmore model 1346. This is basically the updated version of the one which came with my house that was built in 2005. It's not one of the HE models(although likely much more efficient than the old GE) so it has the hard food chopper and self cleaning filter. Run a pots & pans cycle with the heated wash option and it will clean anything you put in it.
