Hi guys:
Today I stopped at an estate sale and found a machine. It is a Bendix Duo-matic Combination unit Model number CGR-L. The folks running the sale explained that they were not looking forward to moving it up the stairs to get it to the trash. Since I'm one of those people that can't stand to see old treasures trashed and replaced with new trash, I had to buy it and haul it home in my truck. I do like old machines but prefer the top loading type and would like to find this little guy a home. If any of you would like this machine please let me know, I would be happy to give it to anyone who would appreciate it for free, my main goal is to find someone who will appreciate it. Let me know if you have any questions or want some photos. Overall the machine is in very good cosmetic shape. I do not know if it works but nothing on it is damaged. I live in the North Burbs of Chicago.
Take care,
Bill

Three dials on top panel? Electric or gas?

Thank you for saving this awesome machine.

I hope that it finds a new home and that it gives its new owner many years of trouble free washing and drying.

Mike

What a beautiful machine!
Thanks so much for the pictures.
So, who is going to fight for it?
I am so glad that you saved this machine! The thought of a Bendix this beautiful, and in such great shape, going into the trash!
Thanks for all of your hard work!
Brent

What a cool machine...glad you saved her Bill! I've never seen a Duomatic like this before! The door and cabinet resemble the '58, but that vertical control panel has me thrown off! I'd love to hear more information about this one...

This machine is awsome - I think it is a 57
This was the second model down from the model that had the jukebox style. If I am correct this model doesn't have the water level adjustment. I hope it goes to a good home.

That would make a great first vintage machine for me... if you don't mind dropping it off,, just head west to Helena then north across the border. I'll leave the porch light on and see you Wednesday evening/early Thurs morning, if I'm out just leave it in the garage, the dogs bark but don't bite. Thanks.

FAB looking machine, similar cabinet to our Giromatic Model G from the 60`s.

Is this a vented or condenser dryer??
I know the washer on its own is a backbreaker so heaven knows what this weighs.

Glad you managed to save it, this year will certainly go down as one of the best for Applianceville finds!!!

This is the brochure for the CGR Duomatic. They made two models, the TOL was like Jon's in Boston or Tom's in MD with the 'cockpit' drum style controls and this one, which is just knobs mounted on a deck on the back of the top panel. This brochure is from 1957-58, right at the time of the takeover of Bendix appliance division by Philco. You can see they have added printing for Philco in block letters above the Bendix logo on page one and blacked out the contact info for Bendix/Avco on page 2.

Here is page 2. This model came in electric or gas, just like the TOL models.
