These combos are so cool! Sort of amazed though at the 8 lb capacity. Seems SO low compared to today's machines. I realize these were pretty complex machines being both front-loader AND dryer... Did the capacity go up over the yrs. as with other washers? Does anyone have any combo that lasted years and years with steady use? Does anyone use these as a daily driver, rather than for just the occassional fun load? Just curious; seems like they never caught on here in the USA as well other places in the world. Does any American manufacturer still make one? Thanks, guys! Sure do enjoy reading about the laundry adventures and memories on here!

At the time, 1958, 8 to 9 pounds was the standard washer capacity. This smaller combo's smaller tub would not really dry an 8 pound load of cottons without wrinkling them.

Much has been written here about combos. Try the searcholator feature to find numerous, voluminous threads on the topic.
