I am trying to get the ge potscrubber dishwasher working properly. I tried to by pass the water heat thermostat but the timer still paused when it was time to heat the water. Is there anything else that i can try to get this to advance through the rest of the cycles. The dishwasher's model number is GSC702-01WH This is a follow up to my previeous post 515688 thanks Tom

tom, I finally got around to checking out what your friend's dishwasher is.  Just as I thought, it's got a GE brand name on it, but it's pure Hotpoint.  I had the exact same machine, racks , buttons, cycles, dial, and all.  First of all, the timer is not pausing during one of the two last rinse phases.  it's doing its "pause to ehat the water" during the last part of the main wash phase (cycle).  This machine's water heat delay is not entirely thermostatically controlled--meaning it doesn't keep circulating water with the timer paused until a set temp is reached.  It SHOULD only try heating the water  for an additional 13 to 15 minutes and then continue on its way.  why do i now this, because when I moved into my house in January 1986, I didn't have hot water that day I wanted to play with the dishwasher.  but I turned it on anyway, cold water and all.  Yes, it etended the main wash phase by about 13 minutes, per the user'smanual.  But after that extended section,l the timer just picked up from where it was and on it went.  Have your friend just let it run.  According to the manual, the entire cycle prior to the dry cycle starting should be about 57 to 60 minutes and that's it.  then it should start drying.  Tell your friend to just let it keep running.  It's not going to be running for two or three hours stuck on the timer dial waiting to get the water hot enough because like I said, it's not totally thermostatically controlled.  I replaced my Hotpoint with a GE GSD1200 PotScruber (a mutch better dishwasher than the Hotpoint) in May 1987.  and therer wer time I had very cool water, but the machine didn't just stall and wash for hours and hours.  After it "timed out", it just kept on moving the timer through the cycle.
