Hello from a newbie to this great organization. I don't know if I am right or wrong by posting this so will make it short until I find out. I am interested in purchasing a Maytag or Speed Queen wringer washer for weekly use. Is it against the rules to offer to buy one from a member who may have one to sell? Thanks much and a Happy 4th to you all !

Jim

My roommate has a SQ wringer he may want to sell. We live in Cincinnati. I'll pass the word on to him once I get back into town (I'm traveling this weekend).

No it's not against the rules as far as I know. Many members here have bought/sold macines from each other with happy results! To tell you the truth, I'd rather buy a machine from someone here than off of Ebay or Craigslist. You'd learn exactly what the condition is before buying!

I hope

I can find one from one of these collectors. It may start a new hobby LOL.

If you can't find one here, check out Lehman's Hardware in Kidron, Ohio. They sell refurbished Maytag wringer washers, mostly to the Amish, but I am sure there are others who buy them, too. (and welcome to the club!!!!!!)

Thanks

for this information. I am going to go to Lehman's tomorrow and check it out. I looked on line and they sell a Home Queen that made like a Speed Queen that is made in Saudi Arabia LOL. Thanks for this tip off about them also selling the rebuilt Maytag's.

Yes,

I figured that. I think the Home Queen sells for 899$. I'll bet the rebuilt Maytag's are not much cheaper LOL. I will find out tomorrow and post my findings. They are only a little over an hour from me. Thanks for all the help !!!!

I hope

you are sitting down while reading this LOL. I went to Lehman's Hardware in Kidron, Ohio yesterday to check out the new Home Queen wringer washer and talk to the gentleman who rebuilds/restores the old aluminum square tub Maytags without pumps. The Home Queen that looks identical to an old Speed Queen is $899.00 and the rebuilt Maytag's are $799.00. After they picked me up from the old wooden floor from being overcome by these prices, I kindly thanked the man and went on my way. He did however, tell me that the quality of the Home Queen that is made in Saudi Arabia is just as good as the old Speed Queens and his rebuilt Maytag's. I find that hard to believe but it did look to be quality built. So much for a new wringer washer in my house. I hope I can find one that is in running/good looking cosmetically to buy soon. How prices have increased. He also told me that Lehman's is the only one importing this Home Queen to the US. I can only find their name on line as a seller so maybe that is so. Wish me luck LOL.

go to ebay and type in "Speed Queen wringer Washer". I found two. One is a bit on the rusty side. You may also type "Maytag Wringer Washer".I see two available (square tub Maytags) on ebay. Both of them are in Minnesota .Only $50 !!!! You haul away.Good luck!

Dave, I am hoping someone close has one that can be used weekly and left in the kitchen where it will be used. This is for Granny who REFUSES to use an automatic. Thanks Again !!
