She's a beauty!! Too bad about the timer knob though, but they shouldn't be too hard to find. I miss my Mom's old 76 Whirlpool. It too was standard capacity. 4 Cycle heavy duty with Permanent Press Cool Down Care. Her's had the Magic Clean filter though. But it had the same agitator with the big fabric softener hat. I really wish I could have saved it! :( I hope you enjoy yours!

Thanks Guys

These BD's are becomming more and more scarse in my neck of the woods, even appliance stores, that take old machines on trade, wont sell to you, they all say, we gotta scrap em, ya know all that environmental BS. Which has made it even harder for a collector like myself..

Great video of her sights and sounds. While I have a lot of love for the large capacity washers, my favorites are the standard capacity models. Especially with the manual filters. Have lots of fun with this one.

Have a good one,
James

that's not very envirmental when you scrap a prefectly good working machine.

They don't have to scrap anything....

As this pertains to Whirlpool Belt-Drives and Direct Drives, the appliance stores simply choose to scrap the machines because they are heavy and bring some decent money for scrap value. That coupled with harder to get parts, know-how that may be lacking in some cases where the techs are all geared for DDs and other more recent designs, these shops simply don't want to work on the old machines or have any connection to them after the sale. Its not a case that they can't or are prohibited.

If there were environmental issues, the DDs would be in the same situation because a Belt Drive doesn't use much more water if any than a DD with the exception of the 2011 compliant DDs.

Most appliance stores that I know of, both in this area and out west where some of my machines have come from, have been passing on BDs, most Filter Flos, and others of that generation simply due to their age.

I truly liked these washers except for one thing--the spin speeds are way too slow for my satisfaction. If they had increased the BD's spin speeds, I would have been a bit more enthused by their performance. I guess that having the numerous, positive experiences with the FRIGIDAIRES (solid tub models) and the front loading European models i.e.Miele,Asko, and their high speed spins, spoiled me into preferring them over the top loaders.Great video though!
