Frigidaire(was or still is sold also as Kenmore) Not sure about Haier but will take Yogi's word on it. Have a 18" Kenmore (Frigidaire) for over ten years now without any problems. Simple machine, nothing fancy but get's the job done. When shopping for the unit was told as with small apartment sized washing machines only a few companies actually make them, everyone else merely slaps their brand name. In the case of 18" portable dishwashers only Frigidaire makes them. Miele and IIRC some other high end brands have similar units but they are built in only. Being as that may have heard of people turning an 18" built-in unit into a portable one,but not sure how that works. |

There are no classic 18" machines, no decent US maker ever made a 18" machine, if one is really determined to have a GOOD DW it is best to redesign the kitchen. That said I would bit the bullet and buy one of the new GE, KM, Frigidare, Chinese machines. If money is no object you can always get a Miele but you will pay for it more than once. Repairs are expensive and difficult to get completed and from what I can tell Miele appliances are not all that reliable. |
