Hi guys...thanks for all the comments! Keeping the aluminum tub shiny is certainly a challenge, especially dependant upon the brand of detergent one uses. It takes a lot of elbow grease, using "SOS" pads.
As per a previous post, the newly-formulated "ALL" is to be avoided, as it contains some new element that totally darkens the aluminum. Also for those Canadian members, I advise against using "Sunlight". After complaining to Sun Products about my experience with "All", I received a coupon for a free box of "Sunlight" and had the same negative results to the washtub. I believe Geoff Delp uses only original formula Tide in his (correct me if I'm wrong, Geoff). So I'm going to stick to that as well. When polishing with an SOS pad, I am very careful to rub in the same direction to avoid scratching the aluminum. But there must be a product available to the common consumer to de-oxidize alumium --- American Airlines uses a product to keep their planes shiny, but I don't know what it is! |

I wonder if we used Bon ami or Barkeepers Friend? Low abrasion but maybe affective? |

Nice washer and its so quiet. I like the way the water bobs up around the agitator.
To keep the aluminun shiny, have you tried Mother's California Gold mag and aluminun car polish? Over on Vacuum Land I learned to use it to polish my Kirby, it works great and smells nice too. It also works great to polish silverware. |
