I think you are smart to replace this machine for a rental property, but it was a very good machine in its day and there may be club members here that are interested in having it.
Unless thew kitchen floor has been built up a lot with thick new flooring since this DW went in you can easily install any new machine you want. The KDS-18 had a full frame around the tank so once it is removed it will be very easy to install the replacement. I have installed a few thousand replacement DWs in my life and I always liked putting in replacements when an old KA was coming out as there were never any fit problems for the new machine. Just yesterday I removed a 6 year old two drawer Fisher-Paycal DW and like removing an old KA it left a nice large space and the new KM standard tub Ultra Wash DW just slid in. My customer said the F&P DW still worked but he was absolutely sick of either having to pre-wash all his dishes or having them come out covered with food, Royal POS and a waste of over $1000.00 as he put it now he has a $400.00 WP built machine that will actually work.
Anyway I get off topic a bit LOL, I would just buy a $400-500 WP or MT or KM DW built by WP for your rental. And skip any service contracts, not only are they a complete waste of money for major appliances, it is much harder to get most problems fixed with them than just calling a good local service company which you need to know anyway if you have a rental house. |
