Servis wringer

I think it's actually a Servis compact ,I would love a superheat, saw one a couple of years ago on eBay but missed the bidding.
Anybody got one to flog?

.....Superheat,

Hi Lance,

They do pop up every now and then, I will keep my eyes open for you !! Over the years I think I have had about 4, and one of those was stored in a friends garage, and then later dumped, and it was in really good condition.

Cheers
Keith

I'm not bidding on it really, i'm only joking but that Servis was our mams very first washing machine & I remember it very well because I ended up in hospital after getting my fingers stuck in the wringer.

the model shown is indeed the Servis Compact Wringer Washer...the wording for the add states that its for the Pioneer washer on the right...have emailed for clarification!!

Heres the Servis Superheat, with swing out door for access to wringer storage etc... the workhorse of the Servis fleet...the model R is behind it....all about to be delivered to a museum near you for the complete Servis lineup!!

York washers

Well they are only 20 minutes from me but as you asked so nicely i wont bid on them.
I actually was bidding against ozzie for the servis twin tub , had i known i would have left it alone and he would have got it for a quid.
Check out Banana warehouse in york , he sometimes get the odd old washer in there.
Good luck with ebay.

Banana Warehouse?

I never knew of that place, will have to have a look. I could do with a 70's electric cooker, I HATE new electric cookers with the solid stone hotplate things.

Heres a few pics of the Compact, this was the machines that I first met John Danks by, he had joined AW and saw on my profile that it was one of my wanted machines...having found one in a local paper he picked it up and headed up to Chester to deliver it and meet up for the first time...the rest of story is history...ta John!!

Austin, yes work in progress, will keep you posted !!!

Banana Warehouse & Dave Dee's Removals

Two blasts from my past there!!!

Had totally forgotten about the Banana Warehouse and its Sinclair C5 parked up outside the entrance - it was a bit tatty 8 years ago, when i last saw it. wonder what it looks like now.

It was the name 'Dave Dee' that slid things into place (not mentioned in the thread, but an affiliate of the Warehouse).
He used to have a sorting building, round the corner from where I lived in my second year at uni, with his van parked outside.

I really must get back to York sometime - 7 years of my life spent there and its an age since I went back.

Paul

banana warehose

Hi Paul , you were one of the people that i emailed a couple of days ago.
Did you get it.
Having big email probs at the moment.
As for Dave Dee, his banana warehouse is still there and still crammed to the ceiling with just about everything.
I saw last week an old Flately dryer in there but thankfully resisted temptation with that one.
Al is coming to see me tomorrow then meeting up with you boys , hope you have a great weekend. Think of me in that hot bloody kitchen for the next few days wont you.
You wont !
WEll good night then.

Hi Lance.

I have just been onto Google and electronically wandered down Piccadilly again, for the first time in 8 years. Still a bit of a dump, but leads into a lovely city - when I was there Piccadilly led to the probable delights that once resided in the old Northern Electric Shop.

Think google must have passed by the day he was shut, for there is a closed green door and no Sinclair:-( Still looks packed to the rafetrs though.
I know that Al is going to the Castle Museum which, as well as being across the river from where I used to live (on a side road off Skeldergate), backs onto Piccadilly though you have to swim to get a direct link!
I would mention the Warehouse to him!

All this sudden talk of York really is making me pine for it. I must pull my finger out and visit the place again.
Paul

Hi Mike,
I can't remember but do you have a Goblin Spin dryer..? Square type with the waste to the side.
A guy recently contacted me and offered the spinner & a Servis Type S washer, think i may take the spinner, but will pass on the washer, those washer's are a nightmare to work on..lol
Cheers
Keith

Washers

Hello George

I have collected this only over the last ten years, I went to the 2001 convention at Roberts house in Minneapolis in 2001 with only 1 vac (Kirby Tradition ) to my name, had such a fab time with likeminded friends that everything seemed to find me after!!

Hi Christopher

Yes mostly mine and others that are jointly owned, have been lucky that many have been passed on to me and others here instead of heading to the tip, (people clearing out their parents house after death and cant bare to skip sappliances etc)

Servis type S

Forgive my ignorance but what it a Servis type S washer?
Do I want it?
I have also decided to skip my old Parnall as I can't get any wringer plates for it and it's just taking up room, Keith did you ever find those plates cos if so you can have this Parnall for nothing if you come and get it.
That goblin spinner is great, I have a 1980s spinarinse but it's very noisy, don't you think that Hoover washers were definitely noisier than most others? Or is it just me.

Noisy...!! lol yes but thats the fun in them rattlin along whith whistles and rumblings, now Parnall is totally different, engineering at its best!!

The Servis Model S is the small compact impellar type, manual wringer with turbulator vortex washing action!!

Hi Mike & Lance,

Awhhh Mike I thought you had one..I have just collected the same one as you have, it is good condition and still has the blue rubber shute, quick clean up and hopefully will be like new, well there abouts..lol

The Servis type S, is in fair condition. I get offered quite a few of these and as much as i really luv the styling and compactness, they are just a nightmare to work on, and the main thing that goes in them is the weeny hose that links the tub to the discharge hose, it is impossible to replicate. I have a green "Powerglide" and that is enough for me. I have attached the pics the guy sent to me, so if anyone is interested, drop me a line.

Lance, I am home monday so will take a plonk down the garage and see if i can find them, i am sure i kept them, will let you know.

Keith

Can I have it please

Well I would love that washer, just a nice thing to have.
Should I contact the guy myself or would you do that for me Keith?
How much does he want for it? I used to have one when I first left home at 16 but the wringer was missing , I don't know what happened to it but I have always regretted not having it now, the chance to replace it would be lovely.
Thanks boys.

Hi Keith, nope dont have that one, next one that comes along give Al or me a ring, one of us can always get it, sounds like they are coming pretty regular....the wash action is really vigerous but not as Tanglematic as an Oovahh, STILL, nothing beats the power of the Hi-Zone...

Not sure if the guy still has it, but give him a ring, his number 07780605978 - Kevin Logan, or drop him a line at loganbrown7852@msn.com

Mike & Al, I will keep you at the front of my mind if any future ones come up.

Servis compact

Hi boys,
I messaged the eBay guy about the servis compact and it's now in my garage.
Not in bad condition , a bit of a respray might help and the pump dosnt work .
Havnt had time to look at the pump yet , hopefully nothing major.
I did have one of these years ago but it was destroyed in a fire , the only difference I can see with this one is it has a small foot pedal which operates the wringer , my other one certainly didn't have this.
Something to play with tomorrow on my day off. Can't wait!
