Hi Guys

Searching around on Gumtree last week I found this Hoovermatic Twin Tub T1116 for sale not far from me. Looking at the photos the lady put up it was in great condition. I went up there this morning and brought it home and I have to say its in very good condition. Very clean, no signs of rusting or corrosion. All wording is still very clear and clean apart from a small amount of flaking around the control dials.

Made in Australia, year unknown.

Works like a charm too, never used one since the age of 6 when my grandmother had hers. I'm getting used to how much it can handle before the wash pulsator struggles to move them anymore.

Spins nice and fast and the pump is strong, on the whole, nothing at all wrong.

It has lost its spin mat somewhere along the line and also its fill hose, the drain hose has been replaced at some stage so it now has a more flimsy standard plastic black one.

This is a standard basic model, nothing De Luxe about this one. No Auto Rinse, no heater, just plug and play :-)

Matt is wanting to do a video at some point soon so we will get that done soon of the machine.

For now, heres some photos!

Matt

Set up at the kitchen sink, not enough room in the laundry for this old lady.
Found some Ariel Handwash & Twin Tub at the UK shop so giving that a whirl through it, Aussie fabric softener though lol

Excuse messy kitchen.....

Very basic, nice and simple. Still 4 minute famous Hoovermatic wash :-)

Wash Side, plastic tub with full length drain screen. I have seen others with just a small round drain screen instead of this full length one.

Spinner, no auto rinse or anything, just a few hose downs for a rinse with spinning in between, or back into clean water in the wash side for a deep rinse...

The back with power cord and non standard drain hose. I fitted that hose retainer on there so it would stay in my kitchen sink better and could be hooked onto the wash side to reuse water.

In its 'forever home' when not being used, looks cool, gives the kitchen a retro look with the older style stove and microwave to compliment.

Thats all for now guys hope you enjoyed :-) videos coming soon....

What a handsome discovery. Though the offset-bottom whirlator generally worked better than the sidewall version.

Matty...

I'm going to stick my neck out here and guess that's about 1985 going on the colour scheme.
