I HAVE A 6 YEAR OLD KITCHEN AID DISHWASHER KUDP02CRBS OF WHIRLPOOL MANUFACTURE.
FROM THE BEGINNING WE HAVE HAD ISSSUES WITH THE HARD FOOD WASTE DISPOSER CHOPPER MECHANISM GETTING CLOGGED UP. ANYONE HAD ANY EXPERIENCE WITH THE NEW EQ MODELS WITHOUT A HARD FOOD DISPOSER ?

DON'T BELEIVE ALL THE HYPE!

I have the same machine and have worked on quite a few of these whirlpool designed tall tubs. They are not garbage disposers by any means nor can they really handle much of anything in the way of hard foods!
Have you taken the pump apart yet? If you did you have seen just how small the disposer "blade" is and did you notice that it is desinged to slip if it encounters anything it cannot handle? Yes that prevents it from jamming up but more than likely, you will have to dig out the offending item to restore the blade to its previous state of "effectiveness."
I had a small chip off of a dish make its way down to the disposer on my machine and all it did was make an enormous racket until I took it apart and cleaned it out. It was not even a 3/16thsa of an inch and the blade could not chip it down further.
I actually replaced the blade with the newer style 4 blade configuration and have not had any further problems or noise. Now I can't say that we have chipped anything else in a year but maybe this newer blade does a better job.

Also,if you have taken the top strainer off the pump which holds the washarm and upper feed tube, you will also see that there are small openings that lead to the actual pump which will prevent alot of stuff from getting down lower. This is an area where you will find alot of debris which winds up preventing the water from from reaching the pump and results in poor results. I had a guy buy a standard tub whirlpool from me becuase Sears told him his Kenmore tall tub needed a new pump because it wasn't pumping any water. He loves the machine I sold him and he gave me the tall tub to play with.

I filled it with a bucket in the garage, turned it on and yep! No water was being pumped around.
I drained it, took the pump apart and found a garbage dump of material clogging the inlet of the pump. I cleaned it out, reassembled everything and I am still using the machine as my spare machine in the garage. Cleans very well and is only noisy if it eats something it should not like hardened food off of the barbeque grills and such.

I would say that you should get in there and take yours apart and clean it out and make sure you get down far enough to see that blade in there and clean out whatever may be stuck in there. I have found small screws, washers and glass in there many times on other machines all of which cannot be disposed of.

These machines really handle "soft" foods and it is misleading to say they can handle much more than that.

The manufacturers have mislead consumers into thinking they can take the paltes from table to machine and hit the start button and be done with it. Well maybe in the first few cycles it will work fine but after a while there will be so much crap stuck in there, the machine won't function properly anymore.

Okay, enough ranting!
