I just bought a very cute vintage Frigette brand 110v avocado green apartment dryer and it says to clean the lint trap before using and I can't find it!!! Does anyone know anything about this brand? I have searched the internet and found nothing. Thanks so much!

If it is anything like the portable dryers I have used, the filter will be in the drum, on the back. Usually there are 1 or 2 small openings, to slip your fingers in, so you can remove it for cleaning. Look for something plastic, pretty easy to spot if it is there.

Thanks for the replies! I will post a picture too, and Vintagekitchen, I did see the plastic in the back and wondered if that might be it but was a little afraid to "tug" on it for fear of breaking something. Do I just "pull" and it will come out or might there be a latch of some sort? Thanks so much!

Depending on the model/manufacturer, some dryers never have the option to vent outside, instead they blow air thru the drum, and out the front door, while going thru a filter.....

just a possiblility

Yay! Found the filter!

 Thanks everyone, I did find the filter and it was in the back, a big, round plastic piece with a bunch of vent holes and two bigger finger holes, pulled it out and there was the filter screen and it was clogged, so I am very glad I didn't run it until I found and cleaned it!
Then, I dried two sheets. Yay! :)

You're very welcome BabyGreen. Funny thing is, it seems the lint filter is usually why people give away or toss these sort of portables. They dont realize its there, and let it get so clogged it stops drying, so they assume its "broken" and chuck it. I have mainly used 110 dryers and prefer them to the 220 type, due to the gentler heat, clothes just seem to be softer. I now have a full size late 80's Kenmore which I converted to run on 110, and that baby does the best job ever. Hope you have lots of fun with yours. ^__^

Nice to know there are others with this dryer. It's actually a Hitachi in case you are wondering. Be sure and pay attention to the electrical plug that goes into the wall, mine had deteriorated considerably. We think this is loosely based on the Maytag DE-50 HOH dryer, but there are differences. Seems to be a sturdily built little machine. The matching washer is a twin-tub and is also Hitachi.
