In Australia we had GEC front loaders in the 70s- they were indeed Hotpoints from the UK. Ours had purple door "glass" (plastic) and purple buttons in 4 shades of purple. CLICK HERE TO GO TO gizmo's LINK |

I am wondering if it was a re-badged version of the English Electric Reversomat. In this picture the fascia looks black but I am pretty sure earlier versions were Turquoise. I had forgotten about any GEC linkup, but this comes from a brochure I have noted as "GEC Home Laundry" fearuring Hotpoint, EE and Morphy Richards Appliances.
And yes, it is based on a Westinghouse design. The model shown by Gizmo above was a slightly later Hotpoint, when this range was introduced it replaced both the preceeding Hotpoint & EE front loaders. |
