It is possible that this design was also used for for the 1960s Parnall designs, which were based (according to the Which 1960 report) on the Thor Automagic. It does not look like the semi-automatic version to me but it could have been the fully automatic automatic version.
Of course there is no saying that the machine would look identical antway - you only need to look at the Galamatic for that - although clearly based on the Hotpoint Supermatic (and might even have been manufactured here by Hotpoint) the contols are like no supermatic seen here. And there are similarities in the advertising too, as can be seen in the link - from about 35 seconds in - but dont miss them - they are great fun Al CLICK HERE TO GO TO vacbear58's LINK |

That both the hotpoint supermatic and the galamatic adverts had the same background music, the `hotpoint washes extra clean, cleaner than you've ever seen' jingle. Mathew |

The Healing/Thor's you see in the advert were built under licence here in Australia and were the same as those on sale in the US.
Pictured here is a later version of a Thor Automagic. Healing/Thor Australia also had a version of the Philco Bendix 'flapper' machine on sale known as the 'Goddess'. Cheers Leon |

I am not sure if the Turner was rebadged as Stampco or visa versa for a while or if if they were completely different machines. Quite a stash you have there....any photos of escutcheons and the money shot would be appreciated |

Leon Thanks for the pics...this looks like Stampco #2. Are any of these mschines in working order? Correct me if I am wrong, I think the perforated tub is a liner in a solid tub? This post was last edited 10/13/2011 at 23:25 |

I can see that you have plenty to occupy your time with. Many future resto projects in the wings. How hard will it be to get spare parts I wonder? |

Great add, thanks for posting, pity we dont get washer adds on the telly now!!
That Galamatic twinny looks like its based on the new style 1420 but with the raised emblem of the 1400 first model, I wonder if this one had a powder spin clutch.. The Thor Automagic has an interesting design wobble plate, "the perforated tub is a liner in a solid tub?" how does this work then, how much clearence would there be between the perforated tub and the liner?? |

Thanks for sharing. Very interesting Ads!
Very interesting are also the machines from your collection Leon. The wash plate in the Thor Automagic turns only in one direction or is like an Asian pulsator that turns in both directions? Sory for the question but I have never seen a washer like this. Very interesting :) Ingemar |
