I think that the top removal might be easy but I'm having a very hard time removing the dial. Anyone have any suggestions about removing it. I have sprayed a little WD40 but that's about it. I dont want to force it causing breakage. Any suggestions? Thanks, Rich |

Hey Rich,
I didn't see this post till now. Is it possible to remove the rod at the timer vs. at the dial? If it is frozen at the dial removing it from the timer might be your next option. I haven't worked on an early one so I'm going with hunch at this point. The early cabinet is quite a bit different from the later cabinets. Are those retaining screws around the parameter? If you get the timer dial freed from the timer itself hopefully there is a screw underneath which will allow access to all four screws. Ben |

I didn't even think about that. As soon as I have some free time I'll check it out!! Will the top come off freely once I remove the dial? I'm betting it will. Again, Thanks :-) Rich |

but as I remember , the nut screws down onto the timer shaft tube, which is made out of POT METAL and is brittle. SO don't force it. I would run to HOMO DEPOT and buy RUST BLASTER and spray liberally for a week around the nut before trying it. If you break the shaft tube you will loose the water seal from the outer cabinet. If it doesn't free up then I would carefully cut the nut off the shaft.
just my two cents and I did this and had to have a new shaft made. jon
