I have always been interested in machinery and especially washing machines. My mom said the first word's out of my mouth were "fin fin" for "spin spin" She said I loved the washing machine. I somehow stumbled upon this page and realized I want to start a new hobby of collecing/restoring these vintage washing machines. I remember my Grandma and Mom both had 70's model Kenmore belt drive machines and I want that to be first. Since I am just starting this project and have a lot to learn I hope to find one that is in still pretty good condition that just needs minimal repair so I can get my feet wet so to speak. If anyone runs across a 70's or even 80's belt drive Kenmore that isnt more than a day's drive from Little Rock, please let me know! Thanks!

Check your local CraigsList, garage sales, estate sales, and 2nd-hand shops.

If you can swing a drive to Charlotte, I have a great many of these that could use a good home. Some models I would like to keep, but I have many late 70s/early 80s Kenmores and Whirlpools that I surely don't need. In a couple cases, I have duplicates of some popular models.

We can get you something running properly before you leave if you can come here to get it. Just a thought.

I would reccomend going to some local appliance stores and asking to look through their haulaway pile. You could also tell someone in the store what you are looking for and have them keep an eye out.
Of course there is always Craigslist.

Good luck

Welcome to joefuss1984!

Hi Joe!

Welcome to the Wonderful World of Washers & Dryers, and other appliances! It's always nice to have new memebers to help-out with questions, especially younger guys like you. This is the best way to "get your fuss wet" as you would hope to. Just remember those wet feet don't go in the dryer! (:

Regards,
Jason in NY
