This old dryer is all that's left of the first set I can remember from childhood. When the washer failed sometime around 1980 to 81, my folks got a new G.E. set. But having just installed new bearings in the dryer my dad wouldn't let the delivery guys take it, so it went out to the storage room in the garage instead and has been there ever since. I came home on leave from the Army in 82 and was disappointed to see the the GE Filter flow sitting in the Frigidaires place; though I must confess to being very impressed with how long the darn thing's lasted. Anyways, I'm hoping someone here knows what model this is and can tell me which Frigidaire washers would typically go with it. I've had this foolish notion of tracking one down and having a set again for a long time but until finding this forum I had no idea where to start.

If you can open the door the model tag is inside and will tell you. Since it has an auto-dry cycle on the dial, it is probably a deluxe series model, like DDG (for gas) or maybe even DCDG for Custom Deluxe and then the model year. It is an early 60s dryer, before 64, probably 61 to 63.

Sorry it took so long but I finally got a chance to have a look at the data plate. The model number is DDG 61. The plate also had the figures 18SA 221. Is that a serial number? Anyways, I'd like to find out what washer or washers would have gone with this dryer and how difficult is it likely to be to find one. Any ideas?

1961 FRIGIDARE GAS DRYER

That was the first year for Frigidare gas dryers, unfortunately it probably has a constant burning pilot, not nearly as good or fast as the gas 1-18s but a little more reliable. The washer will be a little difficult to find, but thats what makes this hobby so much fun. Good Luck. John.
