Trying to remember a dishwasher 		[Down to Last]

I have never seen this dishwasher posted here and I only remember seeing it a couple of times. It was larger than what is normal in size and was built in front loader. It was in a friends grandparents home and was around in the 60's. It had upper and lower racks in it. The strange thing I remember about it was that the wash "arm" was like an oscilating sprinkler on the bottom. It would go back and forth across the bottom and wash the lower and upper racks at the same time. I always though it was interesting since my love of sprinklers and dishwashers were combined. Anyone else remember this type of unit or seen one in the past or a borchure? Sorry don't remember the name or the brand.

I don't think there was ever a DW as you describe, your memory combined with your imagination probably came up with this idea. I have done the same thing where I think I remember something that never really existed as I remembered it.

I knew my Great aunt's Big Youngstown

 dishwasher, and it had a central spray tube. Hers lasted for YEARS. On Thanksgiving, which was also the family reunion, I often loaded it. Everything had to be scraped so well.......

When it died, it was replaced by a reverse rack Maytag, the undercounter 400. We had the convertible version.

My great uncle was a bit(!) frugal, so the machine did not have the optional rinse dispenser. No, it was not the 200. I remember the three buttons and the dial, and could dig up photos of me standing in front of it.

No it was not the wall of water wheel. The dishwasher must have been from the 50's or 60' but I remember looking at it in the late 70' early 80' before the house was torn down. It was about 42 inches like the size of a stove and I distinctly remember seeing that "sprinkler" at the bottom cause I had never seen one like that before. I will contact my friend and see if he remembers it.

Are you sure it was not a James in one side of a 40" Universal gas range? James developed that oscillating type of sprayer. Other than that, if it had a glass front, it might have been the large capacity Ling-Temco which was the successor to the James and had the same tube in the bottom that turned from side to side, but was nowhere near 40" wide.
