Enough whining then!

Mark (lightedcontrols) and his partner, Gary came in Friday night with these in the back of their trailer. They had just picked them up out in Colorado and stopped here to pick up a few machines I'd been holding for them. Mark took this pic of me with the beautiful pink ABC-O-Matics:

Here are the dryer controls, we couldn't quite figure out the air fluff dial, but I have a brochure from the next model year with the same controls.

The Air Fluff Heat knob is an automatic timer which permits a time selection up to 120 min. When the timer is activated, it produces a drum temp of approx. 155 degrees for regular fabrics. The Air Fluff Knob is an automatic timer, up to 120 min.. When activated it produces a drum temp of approx. 100 degrees for delicate and synthetic fabrics. The Air Only knob is used to turn off the heat completely, giving just tumbling in room temp. air. It also states that the air only knob can be set after either of the other heat cycles are set to tumble the clothes indefinitely in cool air after the drying time has ended.

Beautiful pink ABC-O-Matics!!! How is the working condition...considering how they look I'm sure they won't need much, if any!

"...and stopped here to pick up a few machines I'd been holding for them."

Yes, and that includes the '64 Lady K that should be in Louisiana and the '68 Westy TL that should be down in Texas...hmph!!

;-)

How totally awesome! Congrats Mark!

My guess is that the dryer works like many commercial dryers do today: one control for timed heat tumbling and a separate control for cooldown tumbling. This means you can put your dainties in the dryer for 5 minutes of heat and then 20 minutes of no heat tumbling. But thne, that doesn't explain the center knob...

Stunning! I haven't seen anything in pink so beautiful since Robert's 57 Ladys. Are these around a 53 model? Can you take a clearer pic of the washer timer?

Now that's a Beautiful Vintage Set! Congratulations Mark a 100 times over, its a set to be very proud of! Wow certainly worth the trip to Colorado. I believe those are 1957 or 1958 models, the very last year that ABC was in business! I can't wait to see them in person sometime.

Holy Smokes Batman!

Sure the set is a nice prize..but the one in the middle looks like the Grand Prize... I guess Omaha beef IS superior! Can I hear a "Yummy"! :-)

Well, even I, a newbie to the scene, knows what a great find those are! It's hard to believe they survived this long. I LOVE California, but we don't have any kool stuff like that around here! I'm moving!!

Mark, a beautiful pair. I eally do love the dryer temp arrangements & combinations. Way ahead of its time--variable "cooldown".

Aside from water temp and main timer, I can't figure out what the third knob on the washer is.

Probably 1957's

I think thse must be 57 models Mark brought home with him. I have the brochure for the ABC laundry line for what I presume is 58 because they have the new, squared cabinet design and the dryer design similar to the GE - full width, side-swing door, etc.

I'mmmmmmm Baaaaaaaaack!!!!!!

Hi Everyone! Gosh, the word and photos got home before I did! This is a 1957 set of pink ABC's. Gary and I drove to Colorado and picked them up. Got back late last night. We took them straight to the warehouse where we will test them out sometime later this week. After 7 days on the road, I just wanted to get home. I'll get more photos for you all as soon as I can. Soon as we got home, Gary's cousin literally pulled in the driveway at the same time we did, so haven't had time to do anything. Have worked on getting these machines for quite some time. I don't know if I'm allowed to say where they came from or not, so I won't at this point. (some folks like their privacy) While we were in Colorado, we did stop by and see Mr. Maxwell and his awesome collection of wringer washers. W O W ! ! ! If any of you ever get the chance, his collection is not to miss!!! He also has a beautifully written and illustrated book on his collection. Colorado should be so very proud to have such a citizen! On the way back, we stopped at Greg's and picked up some machines for Roanoke Robert that he had purloined at the Wash-in, and a lovely stove for John LeFever. I will get back to y'all as soon as I get a chance to get back to the warehouse and get more photos! Thanks for all the well wishes, you are a great bunch!!! Hugs, Mark
