Wondering if these particular models are known for longevity and durability - and whether they'd make good DDs? Seem to be in good shape and weren't used heavily. Any advice is welcomed! Picked them up this weekend locally.

These machines would make excellent daily drivers, especially the dryer.

Thanks

Thanks for the input. It's appreciated. The dryer is gas, which is what I needed. I'm contemplating if I should try to locate some anticipated parts that may be an issue in months/years to come - thinking it would be better to have them on hand. If anyone has any suggestions - would like to hear them. John

Do you mind sending some close ups of the control panels.  I don't think I have seen one like this before

Good ol' Kenmore. My daily drivers are a '66 pair and going strong!

Nice Kenmore's! I would use either as my daily drivers.

Thanks

joefuss - I'll get some close up pics and load later this week.

The '66 pair are to die for - beautiful! I've been looking for a pair from the 60s but haven't seen anything yet.

Thanks everybody for the feedback - appreciated.

John

I have the same 1966-67 pair that I use as daily drivers along with my 1967 Maytags.
Here's the Kenmore Washer:

Green with Envy

Kenmore 71 - Alright, it's difficult for me to maintain composure at work just looking at those units. Something about washers and dryers is very exciting to me. I am dilerious with envy and so happy - all at the same time - you have such wonderful looking daily drivers. Someday, I hope to come across an older set of Kenmores - in such great condition! You inspire me to get busy on some unfinished projects that I've got in the garage - waiting to be functional. Until then, I can just enjoy looking at yours and all the other great appliances I see on this site owned by so many great people. Wow!

I have to admit that my daily drivers are rotated on a quarterly basis -- a pair gets to reside in the house laundry room for about three months, then gets switched out with the ones I keep in the converted pool house...I wonder which set will be next to come indoors?

My A712 and DE712 set are my daily drivers. I keep them happy by every so often giving them a nice polish with armour-all spray. Any machine well maintained & clean will last long, and I am a strong believer that keeping anything looking good (like cleaning and washing a car) makes the machine last longer and happier.

John, was this the almond set you told me about back in August when you got the white Lady Kenmore set?

Oldskool,

Is there any chance of a close up of your set from the initial post pic?
I'm curious of the detailing of the fascia/controls of your washer/dryer set.

Thanks.

CJ

Such beautiful wonderful sets. The 66 KM set brings back memories of the ones my next door neighbor had. Never really got to see the washer in action, but heard the dryer many many times as the vent faced my house.

Great Daily Drivers

I have a pair of KMs exactly like Todd's beautiful pair in post #4 that need a new home, they are fully restored and had very light use in their life, this W&D could easily last another 20+ years with a little care.

They are electric dryer and a non-sudsaver washer both in white, contact me if interested, local delivery and installation possible.

Kenmore Electronic Pair

Alex - yes this is the set we discussed last summer.

CJ - will work on getting some closeup pics soon.

My problem with all things today seems to be finding time to do everything. Hoping to find some time soon to get back to "tinkering" with my appliances. Work has just been crazy. The Lady Kenmore Washer needs a new pump, but worked fantastic when it was in the daily driver position. Also, the dryer now needs a motor - more to do, just not enough time.

Thanks
John
