Hi

I am new to this forum.
Have recently started my collection with a 3304 Hoovermatic Twin Tub (made in Australia). I managed to get this back into working condition.

Today, I picked up a Hoover 0307 wringer machine. It needs a lot of rework to restore it to tip top condition.

If any members in Australia (or the UK) know of any useful contacts/resources it would be of a big help. It would be great if this machine could sport its original Hoover logo. Unfortunately, it has been painted over.

Cheers guys
Stephen

Welcome Stephen....

Wish I could help you with that little beauty, but no banana....I'm sure there will be at least a couple of people in the UK or Oz who will be able to point you in the right direction

Hi Stephen and welcome from over here, youll find a great resource for Hoover laundry here, you have a very early model 0307 as it has the metal pulsator, very nice, this machine is so simple to work on as you can actually take all the panels and tub apart if you want to do individual panel spry jobs, similarly its easy to mask off the tub and base and get a great job done....the only thing is with the written "Hoover Logo" am experimenting with a scan and lectroset print job that should get the original logo, am just checking the sizes at moment, so would be able to send the stencil for you to get printed and stuck on the freshly painted cabinet, If you do take it apart be careful prizing off the rubber seals etc, or what I do is spray some silicone furniture polish on them, leave it on for a few hours then remove!!

is the motor working okay, and no leaks from the pipe?? Do you have the metal lid as well?? When I get back home I`ll scan the repair manual for it!!

Hoover 0307

Hi Mike

Thanks for the tips on the metal work.
And thanks for the offer of the repair manual and logo stencils these will be very helpful.
The drain hose will need to be replaced as this one is perished in a few places, but I don't seeing that as being a major issue.
I have yet to test the motor, I am going to change he mains lead and plug first as the ones on it look a bit yukky and I don't fancy a dose of 220 vac.

Cheers
Stephen

Welcome to the forum Stephen,

I think you may be able to adapt a Hoover TT empty hose for your machine, which should look better than a modern equivalent! Pretty sure all 0307 spares are long obsolete, but sometimes suppliers turn up with old stock.

Very sensible to check or change the cable, if it is the original it's very likely a bit dodgy. Just make sure the earth connection from appliance to flex is good and tight.

Good luck with sorting it!

Simon

My Hoover 0307

My Hoover 0307 aquired from the old family farm house last year (2013).
It is now restored to as new condition.
It is a 1948 model with the rare stainless steel impeller.
The power source is 32 volt DC as this was what the farm ran on at the time.
I have recreated the Hoover decal to as original.
These can be obtained from Greg or carl at Glenway Signs on Email: glenwaysigns@iinet.net.au
Cheers Peter

My Hoover 0307 as new

Hi - I've just added another picture of my restored 0307.
It even has the original power cord/drain hose and motor belt - all in perfect condition still.
Cheers Peter

Hello there...fantastic restoration job! Right down to the original logo! Love to see new life breathed into these old classic machines! You may have seen my posts re. the restoration of my 1935 Maytag wringer washer.

BTW, wanted to address this personally, but your name is not on your profile.

Regards...Brad

What a great job you have done there, it looks like it just came out of the factory and I love the way you have managed to re create the decals.

You might find this film of interest, or at least amusing

Thanks for sharing the photos of your restored Hoover!! You are shaming me into doing something with the Canadian one that I've had for over 15 years now and not done anything with...

My Hoover 0307 as new

Hi to you all.
Thank you for the comments.
It's amazing that this machine is as good as it is.
This is because 1. It was hardly used. 2. It was always kept in the house and not tossed outside.I would say this actual machine is very rare as it a 32 volt DC model.
Have a look at this picture - It is totally as it was - The ringer rubber has not even perished.
Cheers Peter.

Hi to Alistair.
I loved the Youtube movie you posted - I reckon families were beyond themselves when they took one of these Hoovers home to use.
I thought I'd show you all, the Petter Diesel/32 volt DC Generator I'll be using to run all my 32 volt appliances at country shows here in WA.
Cheers Peter (robot).

Updte

Hi,
I have had to set up a new ID as I forgot my password to the old one and the e-mail account associate with it is now in active. So I couldn't reset the password.

Finally (after a career change and a move from Melbourne to Brisbane), I am back onto this restoration project. In the meantime I came across another 0307. The cabinet is in much better conditon, so I will have this spray painted and re-assemble the machine using this.

The rubber rollers on one of the wringers aren't too bad. Ideally if they could be replaced I would do so. Has anyone ever done that? If not, what is the best way to prevent any further deterioration of the rollers?

Cheers Stepehn
