These look like the same models revvinkevin got recently. $595.00 seems pretty high but if they're in really nice working condition as the seller says they are, maybe they're worth it to someone here.

They have been on craigslist here for a good 3 months. I think they originally wanted 650 for them. I think I even posted them on here when I first seen them. Considering that they have been for sale a while, thy may take less.

That's what I was thinking

I knew I'd seen these somewhere before. It was probably the link you posted. Someone should make him a lower offer just to see what he says.

Naturally all these machines start showing up since I happily moved away from that wretched, dried up Arizona five years ago...ah, at least I do own one turquoise set, although it's not marvelous Maytag but wonderful Whirlpool!

$595.00 is high, but not outrageous, if they're decent shape mechanically, and appearance wise. No?

I have a question about sunbeam mixers.

d-jones's profile picture
I really like the styling on the older Sunbeams but I notice there doesn't appear to be any means to lock the bowl in place the way KitchenAid's do. So how well does the bowl stay in place when mixing thicker things like frosting or cookie dough? Is it OK on its own or do you need to hold the bowl down?

David, not really, no. My mom has a Sumbeam mixer and I remember helping her with cookies, frostings, etc and unless it was SUPER thick or chunky, the bowl stays put.

I agree, I have to manually turn the Sunbeam's bowl unless I'm making something really thick.

I remember the same thing with my Mom's late 50s early 60s three-beater GE mixer...the bowl could be moved manually but did not lock onto place. Would be fun to play with if only she still had it!
