I can't tell either Tom, if I had to guess I would say, it kinda looks like a Hotpoint, but I'm not positive about that. I also can't tell what the machine to the left of the Westinghouse Laundromat is either. It's control panel looks kinda Apex, but the wrap around along the top isn't Apex. Maybe that's the Universal version?

This is a great POD.....we could play name that washer with this one....from what year would this have been taken?....and it almost seems like the boxes and the pics angle was to cover up certain manufacturers....
seems also like a few are missing from this time frame, or covered up, Speed Queen, Frigidaire, Kenmore...interesting though... back then you got a big box of detergent with purchase.....I remember in the 70/80's, you got a coupon for pennies off, now NOTHING! |

I wish there could be a POY. :) I dunno.. I don't think it's illegal to link to it, at least I don't THINK it is... Maybe when the site is revamped, it might be a possibility. I'm off topic now... |

Actually the POD should have its own forum right under the pic, and then be able to access that POD by the date....rather than start a new thread, and everyone has to jump back and forth, or miss is.....this way everyone knows what is being talked about and can re-view by just scrolling
just a thought |

Martin, You might wish to couch that petition to The One Who Must Be Obeyed in terms that do not use the word "should." "I wish" and "If it please" might be more appropriate. |

Not possible to access POY, Picture of Yesterday?
That is correct, the system takes the old POD down and replaces it with a new one in the early AM hours of the morning, there is no way to link on aw.org to yesterdays POD as it no longer exists in POD directory. It will come up again in about 200 days as the PODS are in constant recirculation. I wish there could be a POY. :) I dunno.. Back in 2001 my idea of creating the POD was to give people a good reason to come back to the site everyday (not every three days or once a week). Those reasons are still valid in 2012. If one could simply call up the previous PODs the would totally nullify my main reason for having the POD. So that wish wont be granted. Believe it or not, having to catch the POD every 24 hours does drive a lot traffic to the site daily. For many once they arrive and view the POD they then go and peruse the Discuss-o-Mat, which makes for more posts, a more active forum and a more interesting website overall. Last month there was 63,000 unique IP addresses that visited aw.org. I don't think it's illegal to link to it, at least I don't THINK it is... Maybe when the site is revamped, it might be a possibility. It is perfectly fine and not against the rules to put a url link to the POD in the threads (as done above in 578895). BUT IT IS against the rules to download and take a copy of the POD and then post it as a picture into the threads. I delete them when I catch them. Again that is nullifying my main reason for having the POD. Actually the POD should have its own forum right under the pic, and then be able to access that POD by the date....rather than start a new thread I've thought of that too Yogi, but creating a new thread to discuss the POD isn't a bad thing either, it creates searchable history and more ways to find us in Google. Just having comments posted under the POD that would be deleted everyday as the POD changes would mean those comments are lost forever. Off topic here to, what happened to the washer museum? I removed it because it was too out of date and too much trouble to keep up. It was created in the pre-YouTube days, now with YouTube there are thousands of washer videos out there that are easily found. "The One Who Must Be Obeyed" lol, she is now rolling her eyes 8-) This post was last edited 02/29/2012 at 10:22 |

Robert--I guess you really do know your stuff. With fresh coffee every morning, I check the POD before emails or anything else, and I download it daily. Thanks for the explanation, I enjoy this website and friends have called to tell me that I'll probably like Crazy Obsession. Even my loser friends with only one washer and dryer! |

I stand corrected Tom...thank you.....
but I do love all the input and ideas everyone has.... Robert-nice to know you consider all possibilities.....and take time to comment for our clarification, and your ideas behind it.... just the same the POD does roll around again, if someone misses it this time, they'll catch it the next time..... it is a funny routine we get into....wake up, start coffee, let the dog out, sit and view the POD, and into the forums......to view what's new in the washer world today!....terrible to think we turn down the morning news to focus on what someone has wrote in a thread..... thats like the day AW was shut down in protest.......didn't know what to do with myself until AW came back online...talk about WITH-DRAWL!....lol....like throwing a monkey wrench into the gears....Crazy Obsession?...nope, none at all.... |
