For those interested, the new LG washers that were introduced at CES2012 are beginning to roll out - as Kenmore Elite.

New features include

- Accela-Wash™ gets clothes cleaner, faster with over 35% faster wash cycles
- Active Rinse™ injects clothes with a fine water spray at high speeds for quick and effective rinsing

At 4.4 cu. ft. it's 0.02 cu.ft. smaller hat the Electrolux. Manual is online, too

While you're paying $1,000 + for a washer, why can't they include the fill hoses ? "We'll throw in the Drain Hose, but you're on your own when it comes to the Hot and Cold Lines".

Makes no sense at all.

A Dryer Plug, yes, 3 prong or 4 prong.

and I wish they were going - If you check the instruction manual look closley at the cycle specs - the normal wash doesn't even let you choose a warm wash! I really wish sears would use the electrolux as their primary models!

Why give away hoses & dryer cords when you can charge for them? The manufacturer saves a bit of cash on the hoses. They don't include dryer cords because there are two types. Then the retailer can offer two needed items at high margin. Those dryer cords cost about $3 to the store. Do the math.

If this were my decision, I would consider two machines:

Speed Queen AFN50. Stainless steel inner & outer baskets and reinforced wash baffels (lifting ribs). Most machines at this price have a plastic outer tub into which the bearing housing is pressed. The SQ is built more like a multi-load machine.

Electrolux/Laundrylux Crossover. Think of it as a Frigidaire/Electrolux home washer on steroids. It's got a big bearing housing and pretty solid shocks.

You pay alot of money for a machine that might last 6-8 years, throw in the hose.

Miele gives you All the hoses.

Hoses

I was reading reviews on washers at homedepot & lowes dot com the other day; I noticed when you add a washer to the cart it tells you to purchase hoses because they do not come with the washer. One reviewer said in his/her review that they didn't understand why (at checkout) it said that you needed to buy the hoses because when they receieved the washer, the hoses were part of the washer purchase - so they now had extra hoses. I'm trying to remember if I had to buy hoses for my duet.....I think it came with hoses but not sure.

I still include new hoses and the correct cord on every new & used appliance I sell.  A package of 2 5ft inlet hoses costs me $8.50 and I buy in bulk.  It is an advantage for me, the little guy, to include hoses while the big boys (lowes et al) charges for them.  It does kill my profit margin and it ticks me off that I have to include the hoses so the manufacturer can save a few bucks.  The price of cords keep going up as well.  The cheapest 3 prong dryer cord costs me about $3.90 and a 4 prong runs about $5.20.

I really like these machines.

Shame some of you guys have had bad experiences with LG. Mine have been nothing but good!!

If I ever do more than talk about moving to the states I'd love to try some of the newer US FL's and see how they stack up against our European FL's.

From the manual:
Do not combine detergents, fabric softeners, and/or other laundry products from different manufacturers for use in a load, unless specified on the fabric label.

What exactly is that supposed to mean?

Why Some Companies donot include Inlet Hoses

Plain and simple, so they are not libel for any water leaks or damage caused by them. If they are your hoses it is your problem.

I have to admit that I'm kind of disappointed by the fact that the default wash water temperature on the normal cycle is cold. That goes against every fibre in my being, next to washplate style machines.

It's very easy just to use the "Normal" cycle for pretty much everything, regardless of whatever it is.

I'll admit, I very rarely ever used the "Casuals" cycle on my machine.

I prefer manual style controls where everything from wash time, water temperature, spin speed, wash speed, etc is all controlled manually without the use of specialized cycles which do that all for me.

To Joe_In_Philly

I think that little line from the instruction manual is intended on getting other laundry product manufacturers a bit more money.

Maybe perhaps they meant to say that mixing laundry products into the same dispenser is not recommended?

Thanks, Bud. It just struck me as uch a odd thing to caution a user about. I find it interesting that selecting a Prewash also involves a prerinse and a spin. Perhaps they are guarding against over sudsing.
