Hi guys, really there's a little bit of America everywhere and here in Italy too!!!
After have received a Kenmore trashcompactor for present few months ago (haven't been touching it any more since then!), now relly couldn't imagine to find such incredibile machine just here!

A 60s Philco Bendix to be restore, it'll be the hardest challenge ever for me, I've got no idea for spare parts indeed, but a very very to die for machine!!

Together with the W65A will be brought back to the customer to be used.

Any suggests on how start a restoratione like that?

Congratulations on such a rare find.

But is this really an American machine? I understand of couse that the wash programme layout looks American, but apparently this machine has a heating element - from the "Boil" temperature switch and a 3000W rating on the plate.

It looks American... and it's American made, but it's definitely meant for the European market. Still, I love how the controls look really easy to use..

the ID plate says Philco Italiana Sp.A, Ponte S. Pietro, Italia

So it is an Italian machine.

Italian-made Philco machines badged as Bendix were sold here in Australia till the 1990s.
There were also Bendix front loaders made in UK, and here in Australia. The Aussie ones were made by James Kirby Co. I have seen a James Kirby assembled huge Duomatic a few years ago, and there used to be several old Bendix front loaders on display at the Bendix spare parts outlet in Melbourne, including a couple of Aussie ones and an Italian one.

So Philco / Bendix had factories in several countries, making these American designed front loaders. At some stage (when??) Philco Italia got its independence from the USA parent company, and survived much longer. Can anyone tell us that history?

I guess what threw me off was the English lettering.. You'd think if it was made it Italy for the Italian market, they'd be using Italian on the front.

Fredo, Caldo, Bollire, etc....

(Google Translate is my friend.. But it can't figure out what "Warm" means.)

A very cool machine! And hopefully easier to find the parts for as it may have been made in Italy? Please keep us posted!

Philco

honestly I won't be able to tell you about really Italian Philco story, apart from saying that it has been a brand used untill 90s and no longer, some others could tell you more...

The 2 problem with this machine are the following:

- detergent hole gasket really stripped
- spin solenoid missing.

I'm planning a very little change for the first one, maybe eliminating it saw that the detergent can be added directly into the drum or get some other diameter for top and tub using then another gasket.

Found a new solenoid then the work will be to rebuild the link with he shaft. I've tried the motor and it works perfectly either in wash speed then in spin speed wheter the shaft of the clutch is pulled out.

There's an italian version of this model too, looking for Philco Bendix on youtube, but it's in worst condition...

WARM is traslanted in to TIEPIDO

BOLLENTE, CALDO, TIEPIDO, FREDDO :)

key

the key is to lock that sliding handle to open the lid, you've just tu press down it and the "oblò" opens!

Boy your making out good.

That is a great find best of luck on the restore Diomede.

I hope you get the parts.

Philco was made in some parts of Pennsylvania  here BUT you can't find them.

Philco's are hard to find you think there would be some hanging in Philadelphia

not the case there scarce lol.

Nice washer !
