In a recent thread in one of the other forums, Turquoisedude told us to que up Etta James "At Last".  Without trying to steal any of his thunder, I think it's time to do it again.

This past Saturday, my "real" Speed Queen dryer was FINALLY delivered!

By way of review (i.e., the 'Cliff Notes' version):  I purchased the SQ washer the first of December, but waited until after the end of December to buy the matching dryer - just to be sure there really was going to be a bonus and that it would be large enough to cover the cost of the dryer.  The gas dryer was purchased on Tuesday, January 3 and delivered the following Saturday.  Only problem was they delivered the incorrect model dryer.  The correct model was ordered and I was told to just be patient as the gas products would be slow in coming, and to use the incorrect model until the real one could be switched out.  The dealer called me a week ago today to report that the dryer had arrived and to schedule the delivery for this past Saturday, knowing I needed a Saturday delivery.

So the dryer was delivered.  The working space behind and around these appliances is very limited and I wanted the dryer vented a particular way, so I told the delivery guys to just make the gas connection and I would take care of the exhaust hook up.  I wrestled both appliances around, connected the vent, wrestled both back into position, and mopped the kitchen floor.

Also, to piggy-back onto yet another thread (in this forum), the Speed Queen dryer that I had for 2 months did seem to cycle on and off a lot during it's drying.  This model doesn't seem to behave quite the same way - the burner seems to be on for longer periods of time, with less on-and-off.

Loved it despite myself ;)

Admittedly I'm nervous about those SQs having owned a horrible (and freakishly similar looking) Amana in the late 90s. That said, WHAT A LOVELY VIDEO! Really enjoyed it. You have great talent!

Sorry, that response was meant for DanManTN's video thread. Don't know how it ended up here. ???

Lawrence-

Glad you got the dryer you ordered - finally! The machines look great together.

If only I needed a new set these would be fun but I think I have enough vintage to last forever.

Enjoy these in good health.

Still waiting for my dryer. Ordered late Jaunary, expecting it in late March.

Same saga, the appliance shop ordered another unit other than what I ordered because they said it would be 4 weeks faster. I told them to cancel my order and get me the model I wanted.

I should be expecting it in roughly 1-2 weeks now..

Glad to hear you finally got your dryer. I was wondering what the outcome was but I was afraid to ask.

All this SQ TL action makes me long to order a set to keep in the garage. Maybe swapping out the Imperials so they can have a little vacation.

Darren,

To answer your question - I love the Speed Queens.
