I’ve taken delivery of a miele W5740 on 6th march 2012 to replace the Ise machine. the ise machine also went in to full spin at 1600 full of water and clothes half away through a cottons cycle the machine the engineer also said it required a new pcb also The inner tub kept banging on the outer cabinet during spin, managing director visited and said the inner tub was out of alignment with the cabinet as he couldn’t refit the transit brackets to the machine, so they collected the machine and refunded the money so I went to the local euronics centre and decided to go with the miele w5740 it was delivered three days later, I decided to take the top off and take some photos of the inside of the machine

Drum support with regards to shocks / dampers are high quality products even if the tub is off balance the machine does not display vibration (very little if any) .Main wash performance everything comes out clean and stain free with very little effort, spin speed is 1400rpm all my laundry goes straight in the tumble dryer and normally dry around 50 mins, I’ve had a few machines of late and this one really is the most quietist of them all, with the other machines I’ve had noise can be herd one floor up in the lounge, normally ended up turning the TV up to compensate for the noise. The drain motor quality I have no doubt I’ll never have no problem, with the miele premier 500 I had for 6 years not once was there an issue with the drain pump checked it once a month and never found nothing in it. If you read in my first post it says what was the issues the machine had.

Welcome back to Miele. The Asko/ISE seem like a good machine, but I bit my tongue when some people were suggesting they were better than the Miele! Shame you had problems with your choice, but I think you'll be very happy now with the changeover. David |

Yes I agree with deedub with regards to many folks thinking that ISE/Asko were better than Miele. I'm glad Northernmary that you have seen the light. It is always exciting when you have something new to play with, but soon enough the cracks start to show and it loses the limelight.
Here in Australa ASKO were claiming 20 years like Miele on their stickers but soon that all disappeared, seems that they couldn't live up to that claim. Oh well imitation is the finest form of flattery! |

The induction motor on the ISE/ ASKO gives it the edge over the Miele in my opinion, not a lot in it though. |

Was quite warranted when the initial change over from ASEA to ASKO-ASEA occurred. However, when the Italians got their 'quality' into what were generally ASEA machines, things started to nose dive.
Now that Gorenje owns ASKO, I think that we'll see a return in quality. Oh, and any manufacturer can have a dud machine. A very good friend of ours does most of his work (ponds and aquariums) in Sydney's Eastern suburbs and North Shore. He recently commented to me when I mentioned Miele and quality about the number of 'Red Miele service vans he sees at peoples houses'. They can't ALL be getting installs. |

I sold the miele premier 500 as I had it 6 years and decided I wanted different machines for a change, I haven’t got any issues with the service I received from ISE all I can do is give them praise in all they did to rectify the problem in hand, any manufacture can produce a DUD as you call it, I like to call them Friday afternoon productions! Its what the manufacture does to rectify the problem makes all the difference |

Ive downgraded somewhat to save £170 - until the end of this month Miele UK are offering a 10 year parts and labour warranty on ALL their washing machines. This is 6kg against 7kg(both Honeycomb drums) and 1300 against 1400 spin.......
