I have been bidding on this older Maytag, looks in good condition and it is really local for easy quick pick up. Price is getting a little steep, can't decide to keep bidding or let this one go.

Go and have a look at it

If it is as clean and in good condition make them an offer.

A very nice single speed, ex. large capacity FabriMatic. The tub looks to be in very good shape.

The bid at this point is 152.50 Aus. Any idea what that translates to in USD?

I'm getting the idea that Maytags are hard to find over there? Too bad it'd cost too much to ship otherwise I could almost bury you in nice, clean Maytags for free...

I'm getting the idea that Maytags are hard to find over

Generally people, who own Maytags over here, tend to hang onto them until they break down irreparably. That's why they don't make it onto ebay that often. They are around and, like Speed Queens, people wanting something a little better than average bought them. They are/were common in commercial settings like medical centres, shops, residential care places etc. and laundromats. They are not that hard to find, if one really wants to find one, but also not as common as they are over your way.

Converting AUD 152.50 comes to approx. USD 160.00.

If spinspeed is really keen on this he should go and check it out. They are very good machines and if this one lives up to expectation, with no work required, I'd go as high as $130.00.

That looks very, very close but a little newer than my LA511. My tub is dark and has the 4 position pushbutton water level, Mine was bought brand new with the matching DE410 dryer in 1984 for around $1000 and has not skipped a beat. I plan on keeping mine as long as I can as you cant beat the old Maytags dependability.

Ebay is a dangerous place

$207 should make the seller pretty happy. So, did you buy it spinspeed?

I missed out on this one this time. Shame would have liked to have it. My partner was very relieved I got out bid.
