hello everyone,

i have a small question about my 2004 whirlpool duet washer as everyone know its already an 8 year old model and now when it wash i have started hearing a metal sound clicking as it wash and spin could this be after 8 years of use a start of failing bearings. As you know i am no expert and its still works perfectly well because the metal sound i am hearing is kind of like the sound of a loose screw inside. so my question is how do i know the sign when bearings starts to fail?

It'll make a very noticeable roaring sound.

I've posted a link to a video of someone who certainly has experienced bearing failure. (No offense to whirlpool owners.)

IMO, A metal clicking noise is an indication of a different problem, such as foreign matter, like a coin, etc. Could you post a video?

Check under the rubber seal. Once I washed one of those small screwdrivers by mistake. I always check the pockets but I missed it - and I heard the strangest clicking noise and when I unloaded the washer, there was nothing.....then I checked the rubber seal and there was the screwdriver. Luckily it hadn't done any damage.

the spider on the back of the basket may have cracked or broken causing it make an clanging or clicking sound

its possible but i hear that noise only on large loads but thank you for the infos everyone
