Hi all, If anyone has either or both of these beautiful appliances for sale, I may be interested in purchasing them. Let me know. Thanks! Rod 602-206-4622

Hey Rod,

Try contacting Christopher (screen name - washmeup).   He's in Scottsdale and has that exact set.   Last year sometime he was wanting to sell them, not sure if he ever did.

Kevin,

I did sell them and sorry they did not go to another member here on the forum :(

I actually am sorry now that I did as I love Maytag. I replaced them with the Miele extra large size washer and dryer and must say, they are awesome and silent when running!

Those were a couple of gorgeous machines. They remind me of the machines my family had when I was a kid. We had 9 people in my family and even back then, most washing machines my dad bought used would only last 2 or 3 years. I remember my dad being unhappy about that because we didn't have the money to replace them. We even had the Frigidaire shown on the front page of this site with the up and down agitator although it wasn't pink. t eventually leaked water down into the motor ruining it. When my grandmother passed away, we inherited her center dial Maytag (don't know what the exact model was) that was already 6 years old. It lasted another 15 years in that house! Amazing quality. I guess that's what I want to go back to. As long as parts remain available, I believe a machine like that can last indefinately. And something we never had on our machine was the backlight. That is awesomely "retro". I can almost hear Petula Clark singing "Downtown" just by looking at those machines. ;) So I'm still going to keep looking for a nice LA806 and matching dryer. Any leads would be most appreciated.

Well, If there are no LA806's available, are there any other models of this series available that have the back lit console?

Patience. A806 washers and matching D806/D808 dryers pop up from time to time as it seems Maytag sold a boat loads of them from '66 till '80 in various shades. Keep your eyes open, and polish up your Craigslist searching skills and you'll find a set in due time.

See the link for a summary of lit Maytags.
