Yes there is an Upper Arm with Double Jets on the end but only 2 more jets on the Upper.
The Upper Rinse System is a Curved Pipe with 4 Stationary Fixed Spray Nozzles. The Later Machines switched to a Revolving Upper Rinse Arm. Because the Wash Water is recirculated it's best to Spray the Rack off before sliding it in. But I can tell you, if you don't Pre Rinse the rack, the results are spotless. |

I agree it is important to spray off the dishes in this type of machine. I do this very thouroughly. If you look in the scrap trays you will see the machine is still clean and I had done about 40 racks since the last water change. No but I wish it was. It is in the Prior Lake Mn. VFW. It has been there for over 40 years. |

Gets used for: Monday burger nite, Taco Tuesdays, Wednesday bar menu, Thursday Chix strip nite, Friday full menu(I run him for this), Steak fry(many of which I work the broiler)every 2nd and 4th Sat. of the month, 8 Pancake breakfasts a year, and many catered functions. This DW is still a daily driver. After 42 years he's only on his 3'rd motor, 4th set of heater coils, 2nd booster heater and original everything else.
I would bet this dishwasher has done millions of racks over his life. He just passed an inspection from the Minnesota Department of Health so he will do thousands more. I doubt many dishwashers (commercial or domestic) could carry on the legacy that ths one has and clean as well with as few repairs. LONG LIVE VINTAGE HOBARTS! Nick WK78 |

You are correct about the upper wash/rinse system in this machine. The Ni-resist wash arms continued through the AM-ll series before being replaced with the Ball Bearing hub SS arms of the AM-12 and 14. All single rack door type machines up through the AM-12 used some varient the 4 nozzle rinse system. The revolving full size upper rinse arm did not appear on Hobart door type dishwashers until the AM-14 was introduced in 1983.
