The Hotpoint WM54 was basically a First Edition but it was classed as a Special Edition very much like the Jackson by Creda J1000

Optima - The WM5 Series was the more basic version of the more stylish aquarius machines.

I will find some more goodies on ebay shortly.

That's because it is called a WMS38, no idea why Hotpoint called it that. Good luck with the Indesit, but they aren't very good as when I visited the tip there were about 5 or 6 ones that were all less than 3 years old. Jacob

I understand your point Jacob, But as its just going to be my little toy in the garage to play with when I get bored, I think it will last. I will fix it and either intergrate it into the house or sell it and get a few quid for it. Its definatly worth it, and provided I have the time and money, I will make that indesit last good if I get it. What I know for certain is that new bearings for these machines last longer than the ones prebuilt when the machine was purchased. So therefore I should get more life out of it with the new bearings. The WM64 you filmed at the tip - If it was me there, I would have taken it straight away. I have been looking out for one for nearly 8 years. So I feel if I put the indesit on ebay saying "Delivery Around Lowestoft\Yarmouth", I can then say in the description that I will take the old machine away. That way I might find what I have been looking for - You never know, I might find a 95 Series Machine...

Its a slim depth model, hence the S instead of an A-yes it is WMS38 Jacob!
The drum is narrow too I am told.

The Hotpoint WMS38 was still a standard 5.5kg washing machine as with the WMA30's. We had a WMA58 6kg with the powerstream wash system which is still in daily use at aunts, no problems whatsoever apart from a wire coming loose which was fixed by myself. They were one of the last WMA series machines.

I know quite a lot of people with WMA series washing machines, people with the earlier models had bearing failure which was a common fault. My aunt had a WMA76 for around 7/8 years until the end of 2010, that machine did 3 to 5 washes everyday and never had a single problem until the bearings went so it was replaced with an LG Steam F1479FDS6.

What a odd set up for an Aquarius. Firstly the pull on/push off programmer & the strange 30deg silk wash, which on the programme guide seems to be in the wrong place. It should be under the Acrylics & wool mixtures programme & not under the Machine washable wool programme. I would love to see what speed module is on this model.

Thanks Chris for putting this on here.

Strange 30C Cycle

It is in the wrong place optima!
On my WM31 the silk is positioned between acrylics wash, and machine wash wool cycles.
I have noticed the machine doesn't have the big gaps between 95, 60 & 40 cottons cycles, so does that mean it has the intensive wash programming like on my WM31 (two tumbles in each direction on cottons 60 & 95)?
I wish mine had rinse hold!
I also notice it has post 1995 buttons, the manual shows pre 1995 ones on the hotpoint website. do you think this will be like your WM22 a combination between both old and new?

Well i think it will have the 95 series timer & module on it because you have to pull the knob out to start it. I have also figured out why the delicate silk programe is not positioned where the machine washable wool is. It is because on this machine you have not got a slow spin option button so the 1000rpm long wool spin would to fast for silk even though where the silk programme is positioned you still get a final 1000 spin burst which to me is wrong. Hotpoint have made a mistake by adding the silk programme without a thinkink about adding a slow spin button.
