My favourite ever washer

My favourite washers would have to be the Jetsystems from 2000-2006 (approx) of which I used to own one, the FJD1266W! It's Zanussilover's photo, hope he doesn't mind me using it :)

Right at this moment?

Well I bet some of you may think i'm going to post an Electrolux or Miele...

Nah... Not after this week...

This machine was launched here a few days ago, 100% designed in Brazil, 100% built in Brazil and... IT'S 100% MADE OF PLASTIC!

I know, i know... the idea of a 100% plastic machine seems to be scary... When i first saw it i thought exactly the same "WTF" that you might be thinking right now.

Shocking, isn't it? Shocked i was when i realized this machine is simply PERFECT!

Reliable, decent water level (i mean really high), decent spin speeds for our weather, decent cycles and some exclusive features like the removable drum (inspired on Titan but with a well designed and dependable coupler) and the secondary hatch that allows the user to add more garments after the machine is running and the water level is already above the main hatch (without canceling the cycle and draining the machine.) Even better... Special is CHEAP!

I don't want to hijack this topic (yes, this is my favorite machine) and now it's late night (almost 3:30 am here). Tomorrow I'll post the press release, more pictures and details about this new Mueller "Special" Washers and Washer-Dryer combo.

The use of this picture here at automaticwasher.org is allowed by the manufacturer.

I'll second 'Hotpointfan' ;-)

haxisfan's profile picture
Can I choose 3 washers?

I'm definitely with 'Hotpointfan' on this one... a similar washer to the one in the picture he posted has been my daily driver since this model came out (mine is not as pretty though as it has a boring white door frame) and I'm chuffed as nuts with it ;-)

However, if I had to express my preference on my favourite washer in the last decade or so based on looks I would go for the Dyson Contrarotator and the Hoover Vision (2002 model). There are some threads with pictures of these two machines already in this forum but I included 2 little photos as a reminder ;-)

Thomasortega, that machine in your post is gorgeous, although I prefer to see a stainless steel drum in a washer.

@Haxisfan

Indeed, I prefer SS tub too..

But after seeing this machine, my opinions changed...I prefer SS on any machine, NOT with Mueller Special.

I love Zanussi washers, especially the Jetsystem Models from the 1980s

I like the Old Dark Grey Machines (1985-1989)

and Jetsystem1200 you can use that picture, I miss my Old Zanussi =[ it broke down after 9 years and I have a noisy rubbish Beko that is crap in comparison.

I can't help but think about Gail's classic Zanussi Jet System Washer in Coronation street. When she had a new kitchen fitted quite some time back i panicked and thought surely there's no way on earth it could possibly make a return but it did. Ha ha

@paulc

I loved it's design.

Here we have a Brastemp similar to that, but made in China. (Same as Sanyo).

The Brastemp has horrible troubles with vibration, starting by a ridiculous leveling foot (the other three feet aren't adjustable.

Among the other problems, the Brastemp has a tiny drum for 7kg and high speed spin. (the drum isn't deep, but it's wide)

Mueller's machine has a deeper drum, but not so wide. it allowed them to make it almost diagonal, perfect to load and unload without bending, no matter if the user prefers to remove the drum or not.
cycles are very understandable and easy to use, no ridiculous redundant cycles like "shirts", "T-shirts" and "sweatshirts". also no guess work.

The first button is the wash time: Long, medium, fast and delicate
The second button is the water level (yay, it has a L/M/H water level selector)
The third button is soil level (stained, too dirty, dirty and sweat only)
the 4th is the spin speed (high, med, low, hold)
5th button is drying (4 hours, 3 hours, 2 hours and deodorize)
Finally the water temperature selector (Hot,Warm,Cold) The hot is really hot and the machine has an internal heater.

Below there are three buttons: Delay start, start/pause and extra rinse. The extra rinse is never needed even using standard detergents because the machine rinses really well.

Finally, there's the main switch. an analogic button that shuts off absolutelly everything, even the electronic board, when the machine isn't in use (no standby mode to waste energy).

As the water level is really high, the secondary hatch is great to add a forgotten garment without draining the machine. It's also wonderful to vent the machine when not in use without an ajar door.

and as the drum is removable, there's no need to use those washing machine cleaners. When it's dirt, the user can simply remove the drum and wipe off the dirt and those nasty residues.
It's construction is dependable, the materials are visibly much better than any other washer.

More details and more pictures soon.

Favorite modern washer

When I first saw this thread, I thought it is for favorite all-time washer, but then I realized there is a matching thread for old and this for fav. modern washers.

My favorite modern washer is absolutely Candy EVO with MixPower system, because of it's unusual wash programme (with fast rotations 100rpm, spinning at 800 with water etc), and great results, that 2 test agencies confirmed already.

P.S
foraloysius,
Have you noticed that those newest BSH top loaders are actually Fagor-Brandt made?

Yes, I know, I have seen a Bosch and a Fagor next to eachother in a store here. But word is that the newer ones are better than the last series of real Bosch toploaders.

fagor top load

Yes, here they also have a great reputation. My friend has one of Gorenje-Fagor, and I must say I was more than suprised with wash results.

I just had to check if you think the same, because it was because at first it seemed a little wired that someone else is making something for BSH :P

My favourite Modern Machine is the Siemens IQ-700 WM16Y790GB
(Referred to as IQ-800 in the rest of the world)
8KG, High Spin, Brand new Door & Display design.
Shame the programmes are not as good as they could be, but that certainly doesn't put me off its extremely good strong German build. (shame Bosch version didn't launch here)

My Second choice would have to be the brand new Miele W1901WPS.

If I was allowed a third choice, it would be the Bosch Exxcel 8 WAQ28461GB

Below is picture - second & first choice! (sorry guys, awful quality pics, simply 'cause my laptop isn't working properly)

Could you please tell me more about this machine? I'm curious about some of it's features...

Wouldn't this spin reduce the machine's life?

BTW, I've added you to msn too.

Email Candy for me, and ask them if they can launch it in the UK!!
The only one (s) I find here are the one below the range you added which is a shame. I like the LCD display, but they only have (what they call) 3D display. (LED)
Apparently these also have the loud motor, I wonder if the LCD one has a quiet motor like yours??

My favorite washer is my Electrolux Time Manager 8kg 1400rpm washer.

Wash times are so flexible, great range of cycles, Jetsystem which is always a bonus. All in all just a great washer, the spin is fantastic, balancing is great, what more can I say.

It has recently been matched with its vented dryer option mate, the 5kg Electrolux Sensor Dry. Now this is a great dryer, very quick even on Delicate temperature, very gentle, my laundry does not turn into a steam room when its on. Very happy with this pair :-D

Electrolux.....

Hey Matt

Thats a fantastic looking machine- I didnt really have any issue with my Insight but fancied something German and expensive lol....

It seems odd Electrolux still market a 5kg dryer over there when they make 8kg washers- not that you really need to use it as much as we do lol!!

Oh and love the OMO :-D

Great new machines Seamus and Matt!

In the Netherlands we don't get Miele washers with straight control panels, every model overhere has a slanted one. I'm officially jealous!

Where is the Electrolux dryer made? Typical Australian dryer I guess, I have never seen those overhere.

Hi Louis

How odd - Im guessing it might be because stacking isnt as common ?

This looks pretty much the same as mine but with the angled panel :).

I see you still have 3 topload models as well- obviously they are much more popular over there!

I think the reason you get the straight front models is that in the UK washers are more often found in the kitchen. Overhere that is a rarity.
