not sure of the age....but this is what they call the All-American dryers......no matching washer......more like a one-size-fits-all dryer.....
basic functions, although a sensor dryer usually with Wrinkle guard......and a buzzer......and usually one heat setting plus Air only..... Gordon would know more details |

Pat......
I have only come across two of them from neighbors.......both electric, hardwired, if I recall, one was time dry only.....the one I worked on had an AUTO dry of some sort, but I remeber the wrinkle guard because of the extra timer hidden below the consoles filter area......I didn't what it was at first.....actually come to think of it, I wonder how it "reset"..... I always liked the big START button..... |

Too funny, lol....
There were more than a couple models like this dryer. I think they appeared around 1970 or so, or the late 60s. Some had full-width doors, others plug doors, and yes indeed, they were available with thermostatic or electronic sensor driven automatic termination systems. I've seen them with metal door handles (pre 1972) and plastic (1972 or later) both. I was unaware that any were timed dry only, but that does not surprise me even a little bit with Kenmore. These were indeed the match-all "All American" dryers, and I for one never much cared for their look, especially not the integrated lint filter. The sloped "console" was too unconventional for me, and they used Whirlpool tops on them without the trademark Kenmore indent which Consumer Reports so liked to capture spills. The console was used in a couple different colors, including ivory and some darker brown/walnut panels in 1972-ish, in addition to the puke color on this model. Most of these I've seen have been white, but in the mid 90s I got one in trade in Avocado. Even the panel was green on that one - it looked like one enormous booger, lol. I think these were around until the 1975 All American II dryer appeared with a much more conventional panel. I have one of these if anyone wants a pic. Gordon |
