Hello Gang, thought I'd create a new thread...
Many of us as we know, are always on the search hoping to find the next machine to add to the (your) collection. Some of you already, have an impressive collection of washers, where many of us dream of having, though some times we compensate in other ways. However, I would like us to share and discuss, our ultimate "Dream Machine" ie your ultimate dream machine we would like/or yet to find. Tell us why your fond of this machine & why it's important that you must add it to your collection. Would also be great if you could share any pictures you might have relating to the above questions. As always, looking forward to reading your posts. Happy writing gang, Hass. |

Well, my dream machine and holy grail is below: The 1973 version of the Simpson 'Fabulous 89' Solid State Control Automatic.
Why do i like it? Well....for a start i love the name! Whoever decided to call this machine the 'FABULOUS 89' must have been a friend of dorothy! Also, i love the colour blue and the control panel on this machine. It was also (according to Simpson's advertising)when the model was first introduced in 1971, the 'World's first automatic with solid state program controls'. That could be debateable. However, the machine developed issues during its 3 year production run....the solid state circuitry kept failing due to moisture issues and Simpson eventually replaced the whole control panel with a more conventional timer model at no cost to the consumer, so the chances of ever finding one are very slim. But....i'm not giving up on my search. 'Apparently', according to 2 clairvoyants, the machine is out there in a junkyard in another state of Australia and i've been advised where to search. Whether or not you are a believer in this is up to you, but at least i know not to give up on my search. Cheers Leon |

Launderess posted an Ebay link to a Visimatic for sale near London.
This thing was gorgeous. Turquoise, lightly or never used. Everything looked perfect. I asked Mike if he was going to get it, and he was considering the prospect, but so far a no go. Today I read in my Visimatic Sacred Doctrine that the reset button protects the machine in the event of overloading or LOW VOLTAGE. And I thought, that's why no one's been using it in the UK all these years. The Overload Protector would kick in every time. Just a theory. Then I realized that the UK has so many cool wringer washers that heat, maybe the Lady K Visimatic just can't cut it. But for me to have a perfect Visimatic of that vintage in Turquoise, with all parts present (the tub mounted filter can easily get lost in the shuffle)--would be the ultimate dream machine for me, at least for today..... smiling. Wondering what it would cost to slowly ship the machine to the New York Harbor. Also DARREN, if someone copied the pic, would you kindly post it ? |

Great comment guys, I've noticed some of you find it impossible to knuckle down to one machine, lol. But that's the whole point of this topic, a ultimate test to see what everyone's reaction would be... do, keep those comments coming...
My "Ultimate Machine" would have to be the Bosch V series, made during the early/mid 80s. (You can check out the link below, showing the Bosch V 695 in action) Give me one of these, you'd never see me again lol. Although I love all kinds of washing machines aka Hotpoint's (especially the Hotpoint 95620 'New Generation' Super Electronic De Luxe L.E") Hoover, Servis, Zanussi, etc, The Bosch V series would always stand out for me time and time again. Just looking at these machines, you get a sense of confidence. It had personality and the machine shows you who's boss and I've always thought that since my teens. What I love about these machine, is simply because it didn't have the normal wash rhythm. You knew it was built to take care if your clothes, which meant longer wash time, deep rinses and those long and broken spin intervals, which took at least 20mins at a time, (I'm sure it did). I thought this machine was ahead of it's time, before Fuzzy logic was introduced in early 90s. I'd not seen nothing like it and you knew it was expensive, if you were to purchase one. Well I certainly wanted one of these in my house, that was for sure! If I found one of these now, I'd build a garage - that's how committed I am to owning one or a few shall I say lol... Though it's all fantasy thinking for now. Thanks for reading, Hass. CLICK HERE TO GO TO thelaundrylab's LINK |
