I recently got my hands on an Estate washer (mod. # TAWS800JQ) that will not spin smoothly---even when empty! Yes, I've adjusted the leveling legs, it is sitting firmly on the concrete floor in my workshop. Even with no clothes, this thing starts waltzing across the floor. Even more strange, I removed the liquid filled balance ring and it spins smooth as silk. I've repositioned the balance ring several times but can't get a smooth spin as long as that balance ring is on. Is this washer ready to be scrapped? Any suggestions appreciated.

Springs.

Check the springs. If a WP Direct Drive is overloaded regularly, the springs can be stretched or broken.

Thanks, I'll try that.

You might also check to see of the support structure had a crack somewhere.
