It hit me recently that because of this site, many of us have bought and recommended Speed Queen as the washer and dryer of choice. So I was wondering do you own an Alliance built Speed Queen washer and/or dryer? I have the AWN542 top load washer and matching electric dryer, I also bought a set for my mother as well. Mike

I own one....![]() Hi Mike,
I own only own the washer.....an AWN552 export model. Very happy with it. By all accounts, the distibutor here in Queensland is doing quite well sale wise due to many previous owners of the 'Kleenmaid' branded Speed Queen's wanting to upgrade, plus Maytag have disappeared from the domestic market here after selling the WP DD machines for only a very short time. New SQ Laundry Appliances![]() My brother and I each got one of the last rear control FL washers with the water heater and small door 6-8 years ago and they have been great. And while you can't beat the Quality low price and good warranty on their new TL washers and dryers it would make no sense for either of us to buy the TL washer or dryer. The 29" WP built dryers are still better dryers and a ten year old WP built DD washer is again a much better washer for someone like me where maintenance costs are not an issue of ownership.

We just bought a Speed Queen AWN412 but not the dryer, as the Maytag dryer we have is still working great.

![]() I have a top load Speed Queen Washer and Dryer (both top of the line models) for the past 4 years now. Excellent machines with no issue, built like a tank yet very gentle on the clothes. I wouldn't buy any other brand after having these units. More than several people in my family have these units (and some have the units made under Amana), and all have never had any issues with them despite heavy useage.
