I am finishing the restoration of the brown DE750 MT HOH dryer and am wondering if any of the other MT experts knows the exact wattage that the heating element should be. The model tag says 4800 watts at 230 volts but I am guessing that includes about 300 watts for the motor etc. When I measure the resistance of a new HOH element and calculate the wattage at 230 volts it does come out to about 4500 watts, if you calculate it at the more common voltage today of 240 it comes out to almost 4900 watts. [ I guess that's why these old HOH dryers don't seem so slow when used on 240 volts today ]. Since this dryer will live at our warehouse-museum I am converting it to be a 208 volt dryer so it will deliver the full wattage that MT designed it to deliver. I am also adding a power relay to the heater circuit to protect the old program switch, operating thermostat and motor centrifugal switch.

Thanks, John

technical reasons for adherence to doctrine or for the added elements you are putting into the circuit. Cause I can tell you power relays and most electronic elements are designed to handle 10-20% over and below their stated rating.
