Hello, I have an old Hoover Electra 540 dual spin machine (it's a 90's model but I'm not sure which year exactly, I put it in the vintage thread but it could be a little under 20 years old, sorry if I've put it in the wrong thread) which I got restored approx 8 years ago & it's been an absolute workhorse and I've not had any problems with it at all before today.

I popped a load of clothes in it earlier today & it washed it all as normal. For some reason though, it won't let me open the door to get my clothes out. It's sitting there with the power light still on.

Has anyone else had a similar problem and/or have any tips on how I can get the door open so I can hang out my clothes please?

Thanks :-)

You might have tried this by now, but pull the plug out and the door should release in roughly 1min.

That's a generalization on door latches. I'm really not familiar with your Hoover. As you can tell from these: If knob timer, does turning it a click or 2 turn the light off and release the door? If digital, does cancel/off work?

Hotpoints

Hotpoints some times do this re-run the spin cycle usualy sorts it out. Failing that some times a sharp bang by the catch helps. ( Dont dent it though ) :)

Mine used to do that, the latch is about to go. Give the handle on the door a good hit try it both with the power on and off and it should release... Worked on my Electra...
