Not far from me is a harvest gold "garage door" Lady Kenmore set for $100.   They're in a house that's being renovated to rent and need to be gone in one week.

I looked at them yesterday but didn't have my camera so sorry, no photos.   They are in good, but not perfect condition.  The washer is a 1974 large capacity model and the dryer is a 1971 gas model.   The washer has a little rust at the very base of the cabinet below the triple dispenser (easily repairable).   Also in the bottom of the tub there is what appears to be hard water deposits.   Overall the cabinets and paint on both are in good - very good condition, though the chrome has light pitting.

If anyone is interested, contact me.    I can pick them up and hold them for you for a short time.

Would experts say the bottom of the tub had water deposits or the like, or heavy use ?

Yes Charles, it's almost exactly the same as my set, except in h-gold. My set, the washer is also a '74 but my dryer is a '70.

You're trying to collect all the different colors of the Maytags. Here's your chance to do the same with piano keys... Lol!

LKM Washer

The staining in the bottom of the wash basket is likely a hard water film caused by cheap or too little detergent [ Sears, Arm&Hammer, Amway Etc ] The bad thing if the inner basket looks this bad I would hate to see the bottom of he outer tub. The dispenser valve, SC filter, water pump and dispenser itself may all be in bad condition, Great Washer though this was the only LKM key board super capacity washer and it has the Quite-Pack drive system.

Can the agitator on this Kenmore be swapped out with a Whirlpool winged Super Surgilator?

I so wanted one with the colored keys, but this one may be as close as I'll get and it seems to have the LeFever approval stamp.

Interesting pair!

The similarity of this set and yours Kevin is uncanny. I don't know what the differences were between the 1970 and 1971 dryers, if any, but its funny to have these matched together like yours, and in the same "town" no less.

Also odd (and cool) is the washer is an early Penta-Swirl machine, as the agitator does NOT have the five added "mini-fins" that most Penta-Swirls have (I know that your Avocado machine doesn't either). I think this change was made either in late 1974 or early 1975.

I had the same thought that Andy did - get this set for yourself and go look for one in Coppertone!

I have the '74 dryer in gas. I might be willing to trade for the dryer in thread if someone gets the pair.

Ken -

Yes, that agitator will fit perfectly in the Lady K. The Penta-Swirl may be rusted on, and they are heck on Agitamers due to the cavernous under-sides in them, but the Double-Duty Surg. will work if the shaft splines are in good shape.

How about that '72 set in New York that Paul/Turquoisedude found and passed on? They probably need a bit more work, but A LOT less transportation would be involved.
