Wow, well I never, what a smart looking machine, do you know or can you find out please if the worktop came with it or has it just been placed on top from another machine??

They where never sold with tops here, but must admit it looks great with it - very different!!

Now then, that worktop dose look smart, wonder why Hotpoint never fitted them on the 18 series washers and dryer here in the UK.

Hi Jan-Erik.

Have seen your friends Privileg dryer on youtube previously - was astonished when I first saw it, as I never knew that our Hotpoint Liberators were badged as such and sold in Germany.

As mentioned, by other rather surprised UK members, the seperate worktop lids were not available in the UK, despite them being machines designed in the UK!

That picture you posted is the first time probably any of us UK members have seen one of these machines so equipped. Many thanks for posting your photo.

I assume that there were also matching Privileg washing machines available? If so, do any of you happen to have any photos of them at all? Be great to see some.

Below are the UK versions - Hotpoint models 1701/01 Liberator Dryer and 1828/02 Liberator De Luxe washing machine.

Regards
Paul

Hi Lee.

Was discussing the worktop thing briefly with Mike yesterday, via text.

Wonder if the lack of these worktops in the UK was because, as a very general rule, UK machines would have been installed under a kitchen worktop and protected from having things placed on top of them and damaging the paintwork.

Couldn't/wouldn't there have been more liklihood of continental market machines being placed in bathrooms, with their tops open to the elements? It is just a theory, but its the only one I have come up with, to explain the lack of what would have been useful protective lids being sold in the UK.

Expanding this protective lid, I am sure it could have easily been adapted to be a superb stacking kit, even potentially boasting a useful pull out tray thingy-me-jig!
One of these would have been a much better arrangement that the one we had over here, comprising of 2 plastic side strips and two fastening brackets at the back - a comparitively flimsy arrangement, I have always thought, potentially resulting in scratched paintwork.

Paul
p.s apologies for the fuzzy photo.
