We got a great deal on a new washer and dryer so I am replacing my vintage General Electric Washer (16) and Dryer (14) on Wednesday. I know some people collect these things so I thought I would offer it to anyone who wants it. They both work but I just wanted to upgrade. I am in Cincinnati, Ohio.

They need to be picked up by Wednesday- if not the delivery guys will be taking them away.

If interested please email me at modsville@gmail.com

I don't want these, but I can pick them up and hold them if someone else does.

Good heavens!  THAT set looks like the V-12 models we had when I was a brat.  Too bad I just scored those lovely 1963 V-V12s....

I have contacted the seller, and will try and arrange pickup tomorrow. I like this style of GE's, we'll see what happens.

The Washer

macboy91si's profile picture
Got the washer home and LOTS of cleanup to do. Washer is a 1-speed V-16 and while it is somewhat worn, it's mechanically mint! So quiet and smooth, nothing like the 86...

Fyi, the filter hose was completely stopped up, and after a pipe cleaner and a good flushing, all kinds of muck came out as seen here...

Here's a quick vid of the washer running, very happy with how smooth it is, going in the laundry room right now...

Nice find, Tim

What model #'s are those? I remember seeing machines like these at the GE dealer near here back in the mid 60's. I'd possibly have been interested if they were the TOL models with the unique control panel style, especially if Turquoise, Coppertone or Yellow.

The shopping plaza in your pic looks like Dillonvale on Galbraith Rd. Is it near where you picked the machines up?

Serialz

macboy91si's profile picture
The Washer model is a "1GA 550C3 Y" and it looks like the serial is "DG133 857(?)"

The washer plate was hard to photograph, the dryer was easier to read,

The Dryer is a model "(XX) 520A1 W" with the 1st 2 digits not being readable and the serial is "TA202 249"

I know they ar not the same age, the washer reads "V-16" and the dryer is a "V-14" with a green drum and horizontal handle.

The washer's control panel is a victim of some laundry spray chemicals and it very fragile... May be searching for a new one as well as rubber feet.

Wow Tom, yes, it is, I had to purchase a new ratchet strap, so I stopped by the Advance Auto over there and got a new one, I later met up with Dave (Volvoguy87) and Wes in the Kenwood Mall parking lot.

Good eye!

I talked with Dave/Volvoguy about these machines, and would have had him snag them for me had you not anteed-up. I am SOOOO glad you did, as I doesn't need them, LOL.

LOVE the blue panels though, always have...
