Just got back from an overnight trip to southern Indiana to help my best friend set the posts for his new deck. It was 95 in the shade ... and I got a little red and sunburned around the edges ... but the hard labor was good for our souls.

On a much brighter note, I did get to play with the three machines I bought a few months back ... that are currently stored in his garage.

The first is a 1956 Whirlpool Supreme that came from Louisville. Sarah (as she is now named) lights up ... but just hums a nice tune when she should be agitating or spinning. Alas, another gal that will require some attention up under her skirt.

The second is a 1952 Kenmore flat top sud saver washer ... now named Karen. She is a little workhorse ... and did all she was supposed to do when plugged in (though I did have to manually advance the timer ... which will be an easy fix when I have time). I can't wait to do a frothy suds return with her.

The final machine is the Lovely 1959/50 Lady Kenmore Combo. I'll be calling her Linda after the super nice lady that sold her to me. She looks to be in pristine condition and I was told she works beautifully ... but I did not have a 220 outlet to give her a go. Maybe when they all make the final move to Michigan in July I'll be able to fire her up!

I'll try and post some more pics soon ... need to nap.

I love the look of those little Kenmores.  They convey the sense that they're so eager to perform and please.

That lived next door when we moved into our house in September, 1961. It was a gas version though. You will love it.

Beautiful and fun machines you have there Scott. Can't wait to see more pics as you get into them. The LK combo looks to be in very good shape and hopefully won't need anything to get it going again.

You collection is really blossoming!

There is something about that Kenmore, don't know what? but you can just tell it made someone very happy when they got it new!

That Whirlpool is amazing... I've never seen anything like it. That control panel doesn't even look real... I love the little Kenmore, too.

That Lady Kenmore looks like a TANK. Maybe it's the rectangular window, but it looks like a MEGA STOVE to me... Like it should be all appliances in one: Washer, dryer, dishes and bake a cake all at once. Still, what a find.

I'm not much for combos, but wow... nice collection. I'm green with envy.

She appears to be in great shape. Here is a Bardo shot ... no rust to speak of on her grey tookus! I'll try to put up more pictures today.

Scott,

Lady Linda is a gorgeous gal! I'm glad you were able to save her and am sure she has a fine home. I'm thrilled to know I was able to help just a little bit.

These 3 babies finally get to come home to Michigan. Lady Linda will be moving into the kitchen at my new house ... and the others will go into the basement "laundry studio".

Ha!

That may be awhile. They are all going to my "new" house ... which is under going some serious gutting and remodeling. I hope it will be ready to occupy by next Spring. These I can consider a serious wash in!

All beauties in their own right. love the 4hole drain tubs in the early WP/K!! HATED when they went to 2 rows of holes how stingy!

And that LK Combo is a knockout!!

Get moved in so we can see them run!!

Ha!

Well, they will all make it there this weekend (fingers crossed). Linda will thankfully stay on the first floor .... all the rest will move down into the basement. I am working on the house for the next 2 weeks while I'm on vacation.
